Hysteroscopy polyps

Hi

Has anyone had polyp removal from womb?

I had investigations done last year, turns out I have very low AMH & high FSH but also a uterine polyp! Hospital said I'd be on the waiting list to have it removed. Low and behold they've discharged me!!

Apparently even though the specialist nurse ensured us id have the procedure towards this Christmas (I've heard nothing) they discharged me in March of this year.

Obviously I'm infertile so I guessed as much that's why I've finally chased it up as I thought they'd think there was no point, but I'm hoping if it's removed there may be more of a chance I'll conceive. The polyp is right in the way of anything attaching to the wall of my womb.

So I'm expecting them to get back in touch to explain why they promised the procedure but then discharged me.

My question is, has anyone gone private for a uterine polyp removal and how much was the procedure in total? We are in the north west area.

I don't know if I'm being unreasonable but I'm so annoyed 😒

I’m due to have a hysteroscopy and polypectomy as soon as we’ve finished IVF embryo batching. I’m in the North West too but having my treatment in London and was quoted £2,300 (plus consultation fee, if needed). That’s at a private hospital in central London with a specialist surgeon (who was recommended by my IVF consultant), you’re welcome to PM me if you want the details but it’s probably not that convenient a location for you!

You are definitely not unreasonable at all to be angry and upset that they discharged you without telling you! That’s not at all acceptable and hopefully you will be able to get some answers Flowers

Thank you so much for replying!

I'm quite upset, it's one thing after another and I'm 37 so not much time left. I have one very healthy boisterous 3 year old daughter so we're lucky in a lot of ways.

My family has history of breast and uterine cancer too so that is one of my concerns.

Thank you for the info, does that include everything or are there additional costs? I already know it's there as I had a scan at the beginning of investigations.

Xxxx

As far as I know it includes everything except an initial consultation with the consultant. He specifically mentioned that precautionary testing of any tissue removed during the procedure would be included, which I thought was good.

Hi, I've had to have it done twice this year unfortunately. I'm in the south east and went private due to being 37 too and not wanting to wait ages. The first time it cost around £2000 plus £200 for the consultation. You have to have a consultation which just involves you telling them you need a polyp removed but you shouldn't have to have any more scans or anything. It's done under a general anaesthetic so no pain and you're in and out in the same day. I just had minor bleeding for a week after but then all was fine. Then I went for ivf and the drugs made it come back. Sigh.

Took me a week from first contacting them to get a consultation and then the procedure was done about a month after that. I was told by my clinic that polyps can stop an embryo implanting.

Did you originally have them removed to conceive can I ask?

We have male factor problems. The first one was spotted during scans for iui a year ago but dont know if it grew then or if I had it before. It was only small, I think about 5mm so they still let me go ahead with iui x2 but were both negatives. 2nd one grew during stims for ivf and they wouldn't let me transfer until I got it removed again. I'm currently just under 6 weeks pregnant from my 2nd transfer 3 months after my 2nd op so feel like it helped removing it. They do say it also counts as an endometrial scratch for about 3 months after its removed which could help give the embryo a site to implant (I think).

Good luck with everything, I know how it can feel like it's always 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

Hi there, I am very sorry to hear about your problem. Unfortunately, I am in the same situation. NHS has been really bad on that. I am looking also for private gynecologist to remove polyp . As well as I have fertility issues. Have you manage to find a doctor to remove a polyp? And how was your experience? Hope you are on your way to achieve your dream. Any advice and recommendation of the doctor will be much appreciated.
