LH testing

I’m trying to conceive but struggle with PCOS. I am currently on Metformin & had a period from the 31st of August until the 7th of September.

I’ve been testing my LH from the 8th & it’s been slowly going up.

On the 15th it reached 0.36 & 0.34 on the 16th, we had sex on the 16th this was classed as a high fertility day.

I should be on the peak days from the 17th however on the 17th my LH was 0.26 & today it’s as low as 0.4.

Please can someone advise why this would happen when the 17th & 18th are meant to be peak days of fertility & high chances.

Thank you in advance

Have your cycle lengths normalised generally on metformin? I think it's likely with PCOS that body tried for ovulation and failed.

How long TTC and are you eligible for fertility care under NHS? I'd be asking for letrozole if you are over the year mark TTC (or 6 months if you are over 35yrs) and eligible for fertility services. Metformin is not an ovulation inductor, letrozole is.

When was your last period?

Are you using ovulation predictor kits?. Sadly these are not helpful at all if PCOS is present so their use is actually not recommended. If levels of this hormone are in excess the kit reads that so gives you a false positive result.

Have you actually has blood tests done to compare your LH level against FSH?. Such a test done on day 2 would be more helpful to you because you would have an accurate picture of what your levels are like. You should also ideally be under the care of a sub fertility unit and particularly if you’ve been trying to conceive for nearly 12 months now.
