Is it true that painful boobs can indicate not ovulating just by where it hurts??

I have just been surprised by reading a thread that said if your breast pain is across the nipple and the top of the breasts it's high oestrogen from not ovulating and if it's across the bottom and sides towards armpits it's a better sign.

I've been trying on and off for 3yrs I'm starting to really worry as I had a low LH surge this month and been having painful nipples since 1dpo. I'm now 7dpo and my boobs are painful across my nipples and along the sides.

Can anyone shed light on whether that Woman's comments are true? I'm 32yrs old.

@blueberry2105 I have never heard of that. Not once in many years of being on infertility boards. Although it is true that some women are very in tune with their bodies and can feel things like ovulation, or progesterone (getting sore boobs before period is usually progesterone) it's not a very reliable indicator. For example I get sore boobs before a period which I assume is progesterone but when I have done IVF and my progesterone levels are super high, I don't necessarily get any more sore and during pregnancy when they were even higher, I didn't get sore boobs at all which worried me at the time.

I also get menstrual migraines which are hormonal and I thought was related to a drop in oestrogen/progesterone but also got them when pregnant which makes no sense at all hormonally.

I'm sorry your journey to having a baby hasn't been easy. I also had a difficult journey. I know how you can start worrying about every little thing. However twinges and pains are pretty unreliable. Blood tests and examinations are better (but even then not always conclusive). Best of luck with everything x

@blueberry2105 I have been suffering from painful breasts ever since I had my first period. I do ovulate quite regurlaly confirmed by tests and ultrasounds. Some months the pain is stronger, some months milder, some months is located around the nipples, sometimes at the sides, so I would say there is no truth in that information.
You should confirm ovulation either by a progesterone test taken 7 days DPO or by ultrasound.
Good luck!
