Hi everyone
I had my egg collection back in Feb, as I was high risk OHSS it was a freeze all round.
After the collection DH & I both felt we needed a few months anyway so it worked out well being a freeze all.
We now feel ready to do a transfer but I have no idea what the process is or what to expect. I’m going to get in touch with our clinic this week but it would be great if anyone is happy to share their experiences so we can prepare for the next couple of months.
Thanks xx

Hi, a FET will be very different depending on if your clinic advises medicated or natural. And it's also different from clinic to clinic.
I've had one of each so I'll share based on what it was like for me.

If medicated, you will have a scan on day 2-3 of your cycle, begin taking estrogen pills or injections, then they'll have you start taking progesterone a few days before your transfer and you continue that at least until the test. They take over your cycle completely so that your follicles don't grow and you don't ovulate, making it easier to schedule appointments etc, and there are fewer clinic visits.

If natural, they also scan you on day 2-3 on your cycle, and then they have you come in pretty regularly starting on around day 8, because they need to time your transfer to your lead follicle size and your lining thickness. If it all works out, you might take an hcg shot, and they time your transfer 36 ish hours later. More visits and more uncertainty (my transfer was almost cancelled because my lining thickened too slowly) but if you don't like the drugs or the idea of your cycle being taken over, this option might be preferable.

Success rates are similar, so it's really up to you. But obviously women with hormone imbalances or too low progesterone would benefit from doing the medicated cycle, and clinics prefer it too because it's less work for them. I would personally lean towards doing natural, but I might advise that you only choose that option if your clinic measures your estrogen/progesterone levels throughout the cycle...mine didn't, so I have no idea if my transfer failed for a preventable reason, for example because my progesterone was too low.

Hope that helps.

Hiya
I've had mine frozen in April and I've started the medication to do my FET I have a scan on Friday which will tell me the thickness of my lining depending on this they will give me a date for the transfer.

I suffered with ohss too if you want to talk I'm here. This is my first round and I'm not 100% sure what to expect either.
So far I've had tablets from day 2 of my cycle and then medication increases up until transfer day then maintain it.

Scan normally on day 10 to check what your lining is like and makesure everything is ok. They have booked me in on day 8 and said I might need another one but they want to monitor me. Usually it's day 14 they do the transfer but again all depends on your lining they will give you the date at the scan.

I can give you more of an update after my appointment on Friday if you would like.

Hope your ok.

Hiya
I am currently just going through my first cycle of icsi/ivf. I overstimulated so had to have a freeze all, we are just waiting for the next appointment to see what happens next....any ideas on how long you have to wait before you get a transfer date....
I just feel that its 1step forward 10steps back all the time.
Thanks xx
