Embryo transfer 1 or 2

Hey ladies,

I met with my consultant today in preparation for my first FET. I am 40 and had my EC in April resulting in 5 day 5 and 2day 6. They are good quality according to consultant. She did suggest at transferring 2 embryos. My husband is very reluctant to do this as he is afraid it could be twins. The consultant said at my age the risk is very low.

I am wondering if anyone has any experience. I feel like we should follow the consultants advice but I do respect my husbands concerns.

thanks

I had all my treatment at a time when 2ET was normal procedure. Out of 7 cycles I have one DC.

I would go for 2 every time. If it’s twins, well then double the joy!

out of 5 of us all having multiple cycles with 2 ET, only one friend has twins.
wishing you lots of luck Flowers

I have twins from a double transfer as the clinic didn't believe both would stick 😂
Honestly I love it and yes it's hard but it's also brilliant fun. I think 99% of men would say they don't want twins personally if they were asked but if asked why doubt they can give a particularly good reason (unless they are going to be the sole earner financially to support a family of 4)

I would go with 2. The week odds aren’t that high of twins at your age. Put it this way l started IVF at 39, l have transferred 3 lots of 2 embryos but no baby or twins

I am pregnant with twins after a double transfer. However we had 5 failed single transfers of better embryos before that and tbh were sick of paying for failed transfers so just decided to do a double. Despite this I just think it's a complete lottery. It's certainly not the case that it's particularly likely you will have twins or even get pregnant at all after your first transfer (sorry). My concern in your shoes would be more around wasting two embryos than having twins. You learn some things in a transfer when it doesn't work, eg progesterone levels etc.
