Hi isam, sorry to hear you've been having trouble ttc and with your health issues. I'm not sure about those supplements, but folic acid and vitamin D are recommended for most people.

And is there a chance your GP could arrange an ultrasound scan to check all is well internally? You could say you're worried because of your previous surgeries, and hopefully the results will put your mind at ease Smile

@isam8598 that's great that your ultrasound was normal it's difficult to say for certain what or if anything could be wrong. Has your husband had blood tests and a semen analysis?

It could just be that it will take you a little longer, I think the NHS site says most couples will within 1-2 years. Which feels like a lifetime when you're ttc! But maybe look at getting those investigations for your husband too as it's been a year? Good luck Smile

And hopefully somebody more knowledgeable about TTC with Crohn's, comes along to answer your questions too

Hey I'm looking in to that but At the same time I think it's to more to do with me as the pains I get and get a lot of abdominal pains I've caught so many utis after intercourse it's unbelievable my whole body hurts in pain until I don't take pain relief I can't survive I've tried coming of them but I was in so much agony my husband was like take them I don't want someone else to happen if you conceive that's ok if you don't it's still ok but I've noticed since I've been married I'm always in more pain then anything once periods finish ovulation pain spots on my face I'm just all over the place I'm on waiting list for nhs gynaecologist I just wished there was some other way out as the only thing people keep reminding me is that I'm nearly 37 and I'll be 40 soon even though I didn't get married till 35

I’m so sorry to hear of your troubles OP. This is such a long road. It might help to separate the two things out. For example, I get excruciating period pain for three days before I’m due. I never really found a reason why. But I see that as one thing that I have unresolved and my desire to have a baby as another I can deal with in anyway possible. So we went down the IVF route. Unsuccessful so far but I’m glad I’m doing I never came close to a pregnancy in three years and in my first cycle I got pregnant (but miscarried) so my point is IVF is far more effective than trying naturally after a certain point. So I would try to resolve your health issues but at the same time pursue your dream of becoming a mother and if fertility treatment is the help you need I would go for it. Good luck x

Don't just start taking all the vitamins and supplements you read about. Some don't interact well with others or if there is something "wrong", you may not be helping things. As a PP has said, folic acid and vitamin D are a good starting point. If you've been to the doctors and are over 35,you can ask to be referred to the fertility clinic who will do more tests than the GP will.

@isam8598 hi there - I've been struggling with unexplained infertility for 14 months and have recently seen a fertility nutritionist. One of the things they focus on is ensuring you have good gut health and reducing inflammation. This isn't an issue for me but I wonder if it's worth seeing a nutritionist to help you reduce any inflammation and give you the best chance of conceiving naturally?

Hey they did refer me to one but let's see if I get an reply from them I've read my letters it says I've got proctocolitis which Google says can be chlamydia or gonorrhoea but the gyno said it's not our patient so I don't get it if it's been caused due to intercourse then why would they do that I'm currently taking what they gave me but trying at the same time to get the inflammation down some how I know I'm to skinny and don't eat much I'm just trying to find an way to get better and then hopefully when I'm ready to try again I'll find some vitamins that will help but first thing is to get well I'm just worried it don't spread anywhere else in the gut until the ibd nurses hopefully contact me
