Recurrent misscarrige , NK cells and predionsole ?

ShareLove · 08/03/2022 08:40

Hi , I have had 5 misscarriges between 5-6 weeks , I have done lots of reasearch about predionsole steroid to reduce inflammation in uterus . I have talked to my consultant and he doesn’t belive in them and says these clinics in London are just trying to steal your money and there is no such a thing as natural killer cells being too high as many people have them high while pregnant ! I am so desperate to do something different this pregnancy when I get pregnant next time . My consultant has given my blood thinners this time and progesterone . This is first time I will use them . But I can’t relax knowing that maybe I also need predionsole Sad is there any way I can buy it from somewhere ? I am desperate ! Thank you !! Xx

@ShareLove I was prescribed prednisolone during IVF and it is actually very cheap compared to other IVF drugs (it was £10 or something like that). Unfortunately I can't remember what dose I had to take so can't help with with that.

Loveintherain · 09/03/2022 19:54

Hi @ShareLove Pm me and I’ll share what I know

VenusStarr · 10/03/2022 22:20

I have overactive nk cells and had 6 losses (2 whilst on full immune treatment). Some NHS services prescribe prednisolone. If you are losing pregnancies and the usual tests for recurrent losses have all come back clear, I'd recommend testing your immune response.

Have you had any of your babies tested? 2 of mine were totally healthy, so we know something else is going on.

I was on 25mg of prednisolone, alongside other immune medication.

twinsetandpearl · 11/03/2022 05:21

I had several losses and was on prednisolone for 3 of my 4 transfers. The only transfer which worked.....and I had twins....I wasn't allowed to take steroids due to covid

It's difficult to get hold of without a prescription - there is some self medicating immune protocols that I know many do in the USA using Benadryl and anti histamines but I wasn't brave enough to try it

MabelG · 11/03/2022 08:05

@ShareLove also has your thyroid been checked? Levels should be under 2.5 for pregnancy

VenusStarr · 11/03/2022 08:35

After seeing @MabelG 'S post about your thyroid, I had another couple of thoughts (I'm on low dose levothyroxine for my thyroid). Have you had your vitamin D levels checked? Mine were very low, despite taking standard supplements. Do I'm on 4000iu a day now and it's back in the normal range.
For my second ivf transfer, I was put on 5mg of folic acid as well.

K8dferXdder · 12/08/2022 00:46

I did other blood tests like the whole Thrombophillia panel to know I have gene mutations MTHFR, PAI 1-4G/5G and ACE. I was given 5mg folic acid and Clexane. Some people who have bigger thrombophillia issues are also given Aspirin up to 75-150mg daily but this together with the Clexane is a protocol that has to be monitored after a pregnancy test. Lesley Regan are doing the TEG tests to decide your dose of Aspirin and Clexane before you get pregnant and after. That way she measures the coagulation.

In terms of the immunology treatment, you can go to any of the big names in London - ARGC and dr. Gorgy do the tests every 3 weeks for NK cells and give you immune therapy accordingly (dexamethasone + intralipids etc…) but the tests are expensive, £850 every 3 weeks + treatment.
other clinics use other method of testing like Lister do it once with the RIC and they give youtherpay protocol accordingly. Not sure how successful they are compared to the more intense clinics like ARGC.

To me monitoring the pregnancy from positive test to 12-14 weeks is a key and not many clinics offer that in London unfortunately. ARGC monitor your bloods every other day following a pregnancy test up to a certain point. I am also in a similar position without success yet but also researching options.

good luck 🍀

K8dferXdder · 12/08/2022 00:56

Oh and I also tested the karyotype for me and my husband, all came back normal but maybe something worth considering. Some of these tests you may get through your GP / NHS. Check the miscarriage panel, maybe you can request from your Gp to do it for you. I did some of the tests abroad and some through my GP.

letshope · 21/12/2022 09:58

@ShareLove hey I'm in the same boat as you 3mc all around 4-5 weeks no reason behind it. Can fall pregant quirt quickly which im so grateful for but cant keep them💔

Can I ask how you got on in the end? Xxxx

ShareLove · 24/12/2022 00:13

@letshope hey , I am still going through ivf now , still no cause found , I did have a saline scan and they found a polyp and also my womb has heart shaped shape so this polyp could be the reason behind my losses . After new year I am thinking of having hysteroscopy to remove the polyp . Nothing has had been found , I did genetic testing and that was fine too xx still waiting for my luck ! Sorry your in the same boat :(

Hi what you have been told is absurd! That advice should not of been given as im living proof of high NK killer cells after lots of miscarriages, i have just recently given birth to my son and will recommend clinic i went to. CRP Clinic in Epsom (also has a clinic in London on Harley St) they are not cheap but worth every penny. Google the owner / main consultant as he is very high up and highly regarded in the fertility world - Mr Shehata. But i have to say I found Dr Edge to be amazing!! I really hope you give them a try and have same success as we did :)

Ilovebees · 17/02/2024 12:25

@letshope hey , long time now see ? Did you ever find success ? I still haven’t and still no known causes ! Iv lost 3 more since I posted :(

letshope · 17/02/2024 12:58

@Ilovebees
Good afternoon, I'm so sorry to hear that. I can't even imagine. I have had success. My little boy is 6months old next week. I had the blood test done for mthfr which showed I had the double variant. So I was on blood thinners for my pregnancy on tinzaparin/clexane which resulted in success. Also took pregancare conception all the way through which had folate not folic in it. Xxx

Wish you all the luck xxx

K8dferXdder · 17/02/2024 18:32

@Ilovebees sorry to hear! You may have some condition that requires treatment! What tests have you done for the miscarriages snd have they sent you to the miscarriage clinic? I had success with blood thinners (Clexane) and Prednisolone 25mg. Let me know if you need to chat, may be able to give you some guidance on tests etc.

Ilovebees · 17/02/2024 20:48

@letshope awww amazing that you had success , so happy for you , but so sad for me :(((((

@K8dferXdder hey , thanks for your message , I have done all the nhs recurrent pregnancy loss tests that they offer and all came back ok ? Blood disorders , chromosome testing , ect . I have not been tested for high NK cells yet but I will start my next ivf in couple of months and my consultant finally agreed to give me predionsole steroids . So it’s a shot in the dark to see if it works without the testing first. Last ivf pregnancy was like 5 months ago and I didn’t get last 6 weeks , same as always , I was on progesterone and blood thinner and aspirin .
then I fell pregnant 6 weeks ago and lost it again today … :( only if I had the steroids , maybe I could of saved my pregnancy .:(
my best shot will be doing ivf again as I’ll get the steroids , but I’m sad to know I can’t try naturally in between ivf cycles because I don’t have any predionsole to take as soon as I get my positive as my clinic won’t give me any as I won’t be under their care then. :( I’d love to know your advice x

K8dferXdder · 17/02/2024 23:21

Hey maybe the steroids will do the trick yes! It is still very positive you get pregnant to be honest as many people even don’t even have a positive test! You must be young :) sorry to hear about your loss today :( It is also very positive to know your clinic is happy to give you Prednisolone without NK cells/ immunology tests! If only my clinic agreed to it, I would have saved £1100!
Once you get positive test, do you think your doctor/clinic might be able to give you the steroids if you pay for a consultation with them maybe? 🤔 alternatively you can ask anyone who has leftover to give you some 🤭I know this is illegal but still 🙈do you know how to take them? I was getting 25mg daily up till I think week 14-16 and then slowly reduced the dose until I completely stop them.

Ilovebees · 18/02/2024 14:20

@K8dferXdder hey , yes I’m happy my consultant is willing to give them to me on my next ivf cycle . Even though he doesn’t really belive they will help as he doesn’t belive in immune stuff . And yes I know how to take take them as my consultant printed out a sheet of paper about when and how to take them before ivf transfer . :) I wish I could ask someone to give me any left overs but I don’t know anyone who’s got any ! :( thanks for you support , let’s hope I get better luck next time , btw I am 32 years old so not too young 🥹😀I think I will be on 20mg max on steroids with ivf. I am hopeing so hard for success as I’m in so dark place atm with 8 losses all happening at 5-6 weeks , and iv seen heartbeats in couple of them too but then stopped around week 6 . I just can’t accept tht I won’t have any kids , I just can’t see my future without one kid at least . I feel so left behind compared to my family and friends who have a baby or 2 or 3 already .! And I’m still struggling for number 1 ! So sad ! Xx

K8dferXdder · 18/02/2024 21:58

@Ilovebees I can imagine how you are feeling 😌 it is not an easy journey but you are getting there! Remind me please why you are doing IVF if you are able to conceive naturally?

ARGC and CRGH clinics offer monitoring after a positive test. Wondering whether your clinic offers also monitoring of the pregnancy? Maybe if you start monitoring with them, they will be able to give you a prescription for Prednisolone?
Also the other option I can think of is to source the medication from Turkey.

If you are able to save the IVF cost that will be better to have a natural conception maybe…

And finally 32! You are still young. I conceived my child when I was 40! I am not saying to wait till that age but just be patient, don’t stress and I am sure soon you will have a success.

Ilovebees · 19/02/2024 08:17

@K8dferXdder thanks for your advice :) the reason I’m going ivf is because my doctor thinks it must be egg quality so at least doing ivf they can see the embryos under the microscope before transfer to make sure they look good from outside . And I didn’t know turkey sell steroids , can you buy them over the counter ?
And I live in Yorkshire so ARGC clinics are like 5 hours drive away from me and if I was been monitored often I’d have to stay over there for few weeks for ivf purposes which I can’t afford to do as I need to go to work too and it would end up as one hell of an expensive ivf plus apartment for staying there xx . So right now I can’t see it happening but maybe in future If I get too desperate x :) also my clinic monitors my pregnancy by getting the patient in at 7 weeks for a scan , so they don’t do any monitoring between positive test and the scan :/ no hcg beta checks nothing .

K8dferXdder · 19/02/2024 22:45

@Ilovebees I sent you a pm :)
