Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can help?

I am very lucky to have had a son through ivf a few years ago after many years of trying and have very unexpectedly become pregnant! I am over the moon but now have no progesterone support and having had miscarriages before I am terrified of not having any progesterone. I have spoken to my GP and they have said I can talk to my midwife at the booking appointment but by that point it will be too little too late.

Does anyone know of anywhere privately I can contact to get a prescription quickly? Any doctors out there that would be able to do it quickly. Just terrified now of losing the baby. 😢

Thanks in advance.

Hi, try phoning 111 or your local maternity assessment unit/early pregnancy unit. If you're struggling with finding contact details, just phone the main number of the hospital and ask them to put you through to maternity assessment or Early Pregnancy depending on which unit you want to try at that point.

I had an issue where I ran out of a medication and was having issues with getting more, and the local maternity assessment unit just put some aside for me to go up and collect.

Good luck!

@FlapJackered... The independant pharmacy on line. Their medical team will do a consultation with u and then you can buy from them. Good luck!

@FlapJackered

Call your GP back and tell them the updates NICE guidelines women with previous miscarriages should be offered and prescribed progesterone.

It's recent so maybe they weren't aware!

Thanks for the advice (and for the link @LASandOtto ) I will try the GP again. I have managed to source a box from a friend which will hopefully keep me going until I can get the NHS to prescribe some.🤞

Good luck OP, if you don't get anywhere with your GP, then go ahead and book a private gp appointment asap. Keeping everything crossed for you x

kagerou · 14/03/2022 18:48

@FlapJackered were you able to get this?

FlapJackered · 14/03/2022 19:46

@kagerou no, unfortunately I was fobbed off by the GP, apparently despite the miscarriages they won't prescribe progesterone unless I start bleeding...which in my mind is a bit late!

I managed to get enough to last me until next week from a friend, but I am now trying to go the private route. I am worried I will get the same response as the GP though. 😕

I am trying not to panic too much but it's hard not to worry.

@FlapJackered
I know someone that paid for a consultation and then got a private prescription from these people, it was for steroids for IVF but I assume they could prescribe progesterone. It might be worth calling and enquiring if it's possible:

Thanks @Gardenlady543 I will check them out.
