IVF at GCRM

Hi. I am hoping to start private ivf at GCRM pretty soon. We have our nurse planning app next week. Does anyone know how long after that appointment I am likely to start meds? Any advice on ivf at GCRM. I am both terrified and excited to be finally starting.

There is a Facebook group if you look it up for GCRM patients, might be better to head over there x

Thanks I’ll check it out

@GirlScot there's a thread on here for IVF treatment/investigations in Scotland and quite a few of the people there have experience of GCRM.

I had a consultation with them and some investigations, and the people I saw were lovely, the clinic was hygienic, etc. I ended up getting NHS treatment so can't give a view on that side of things though, sorry!

I would second looking at the Facebook group I found it so helpful.

I had treatment with GCRM last year. I think it depends on your cycle, I had PCOS and a non existent cycle so started northisterone on the evening after my nurse planning appointment; they took some bloods, had space to start and gave me some meds away with me. If you have a regular cycle I think they ask you to phone up on day one of your period and starts from there. Hopefully it wouldn’t be too long for you and all the best with your treatment.

Thanks for this. I have joined the fb group. My cycle is like clockwork every 28 days. I will only be on CD 3 at my appointment so o guess that means I might have to wait for the next cycle.

Good luck with your next cycle

Hi ladies!
Hope you are all well Bear
Sorry to jump on this thread...I just wondered how you's were getting on? I have my assessments/tests early June and my consultation early July just wondered how long it would be after that to start treatment and how everybody was at the centre etc? X

The Facebook group will show you that people who aren't roped in through the likes of Access Fertility payment plans etc are moving elsewhere if they can due to total lack of communication. They take days, sometimes a week to phone you back, they also take days to get back to you on the portal.

When I had my double transfer in March, I ended up with a very bad infection in my womb and bladder that resulted in 3 weeks of 2 sets of antibiotics.

They got the wrong days for my medication which meant that I ended up getting my period on the day I was supposed to start my medication to stop them. I then had to wait an entire cycle again and they tried to charge me for bloods again as our initial bloods would expire - even though they were the ones who messed up the dates. After a complaint and tears, they agreed to redo bloods free of charge.

They messed up the numbers on our consents which meant I had to redo all my forms right before meds.

My transfer didn't work. I got zero compassion from reception.

I've got another round to do in 3 weeks time and I'm dreading it with them.

@HaloMum
Thank you so much for getting back to me.
I unfortunately don't have Facebook!
I am going totally self funded but struggling to find anywhere in Scotland other than this place without a GP referral (dr wants me to keep trying before referring me but I just want to start the ball rolling testing. Do you know of anywhere else? I can travel but I would rather stay in Scotland.

I just put in my self referral on Monday and already have had a a call and my first tests booked for 2Nd June and my partners for 16th June

I am so sorry to hear about your infection!
Even more sorry to hear about wrong days for medication.
It sounds like you aren't having a very good time I am so sorry to hear that ☹️ x

Scirocco · 21/05/2022 05:39

@RMS0209 The GRI has the Royal Fertility Clinic, which is the self-funding version of their NHS service. I went with their NHS side, but I think it's pretty similar - might be worth contacting them to see what you think?

@HaloMum That sounds awful, I'm so sorry you've gone through all that. I really hope this next cycle goes well for you.

RMS0209 · 21/05/2022 07:51

@Scirocco thank you so much for replying to me also.

I will look at GRI today too, my only worry is needing a DR referral, I know that to even go self funded for Dundee or Aberdeen you still need a referral.. hopefully not the case here.

But from reading your comment it appears you have got on well with this clinic in Glasgow? X

HaloMum · 21/05/2022 08:13

My next one will be GRI if this fails. You should be able to ask for a referral for anything private from your gp. How long have you been trying naturally?

RMS0209 · 21/05/2022 09:05

@HaloMum I hope this one doesn't fail for you.
Haven't been trying aslong as some of you ladies but like I said I just am looking for an initial test to put my mind at ease and even for that you need referral, I will have a read online today.
Thank you
Sending luck for this cycle for you x

Scirocco · 21/05/2022 11:12

@RMS0209 yes, we had a good outcome - our little girl is from our first and only cycle with them.

RMS0209 · 21/05/2022 12:08

@Scirocco thank you - I have contacted them and the wait is 4/6 weeks for tests so I think I might give it a try! X
