Worrying about egg quantity/quality!

Might just be the IVF stress kicking in but I’m really freaking out over egg quality. Every thread I read is always saying it’s quality over quantity.
I had my egg collection on Monday and they got 18 follicles, 17 mature and they called me Tuesday to say 14 fertilised.
I’m not due another update until tomorrow so maybe it’s the waiting and the constant googling that’s sent me into a panic but are they all going to be rubbish quality with there being so many? I keep seeing it’s better to have 3-4 good quality ones. (I know I’m lucky to have them and I do keep telling myself that but it doesn’t seem to be helping).
Could they still be an ok quality even though there’s quite a few?

Your numbers are really good so far and there's no reason to think that there will be a major problem.

You've cleared both the maturity hurdle and then the fertilisation hurdle, so you're doing well. It's impossible to say how many day five / six blastocysts you'll get, but you'll hopefully have a few to freeze.

I think clinics get more concerned about quality when 20+ eggs are retrieved. But there are so many variables, with the key one being age.

Also, remember that IVF is basically a lottery at an individual level. There are women who get only one to three eggs, with one blastocyst that gives them their baby. There are other women who get lots of eggs and blastocysts and unfortunately don't have success. But then there are women with a small number of eggs who aren't successful, and then women who manage to have two children from one retrieval having got five good blastocysts. It's not a binary situation where a lower number of eggs equals more change of quality and therefore success.

I know this is a really anxious time. Try to keep busy so you don't have as much time to Google x

@Pluto301 have fingers crossed things work out for you. I think I had something like 22 eggs collected, 16 fertilized and 12 made it to blast. None were ‘top AA quality’, about half were average/ low. I was nearly 38 and became overly hung up on the grades. Anxiety made me lose all perspective. But from that collection we have had three children (mostly from the middle/ average embryos). So it really is an individual thing, everyone is different. hope you have good news at day 5 and good luck XX

Finger's crossed for you op x

Egg quality is important and can be increased with the help of your clinic, supplements, diet and lifestyle. This doesn't mean that lower quality eggs mean you did something wrong. On the contrary, it helps to collect data, and plan for the next time.

Keeping everything crossed x
