I have 2 children age 7 and 5 years and my husband and I have been trying for a 3rd. Unfortunately this has so far resulted in 3 miscarriages around 6 weeks. I'm now going to be referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic for tests. I was just wondering as my first 2 were delivered by c-section, could it be uterine scarring causing the miscarriages? Maybe by preventing proper implantation? It just seems strange I've always miscarried around the same time? Has anyone else been through something similar and gone on to have a successful pregnancy?

Hi I don’t have any advice as such but just wanted to post some support. We are struggling to conceive no2 and I’ve also had two miscarriages at the six week mark in the last year so I know how hard it can feel. Hope you get tests soon x

It’s worth having a hysteroscope to check for scar tissue (Asherman’s syndrome).
Ashermans manly happens after some form of surgical procedure to the womb eg surgical abortion (D&C) or CS.
Every other test will come back normal, only a hysteroscope can visualise this.
in a number of cases the scarring can be removed.

Hi,

I had an emergency c-section in 2020. After pushing for a hysteroscope, and a 9 month wait, i found out that I had extensive scarring (adhesions) that around the entrance of my fallopian tubes. I was referred for hysteroscopic adhesiolysis (surgery), which was only partially successful. I've now been told that the only way I'll be able to have another child is through trying IVF. Now looking at different IVF providers in London- as this is a second child we will not be eligible for any NHS funded treatment.
Interested to know about experiences with IVF clinics, particularly dealing with complex cases (I'm also 38). I had my tests at King's but after looking at reviews and the HFEA live birth dares for IVF patients, I'm not convinced that it's the best place. Would be keen to hear reviews and recommendations.

Did you have any physical symptoms that indicated you had scarring?

Jlojlo · 05/03/2024 09:50

@Lala87 I had no symptoms.well actually, my periods were a lot lighter., but besides that I didn't feel anything.

@Kelwa hi, how old are you? I had similar, started ttc number 3 before I turned 40, since then had 4 chemical pregnancies in 1.5 years (mc around 6w), was on progesterone but didn't make a difference. Then last 6m doing ivf with genetic testing and all my embryos ubnormal, they just say age.. In the mid of last third cycle as very low chance. Hormones and quantity is very good, just no quality. Taking tons of supplements but again no impact, as my dr says she cannot change my age (soon 42).
But if you are mid thirties then most likely other reasons than quality of eggs. Hope they will find the answers soon xx

@Kelwa oh ignore please, just realised it is old thread... Hope you are doing well

Kelwa · 05/03/2024 13:39

@TT82 it is an old thread but I just wanted to say for you and others to not give up hope.

I had a 4th miscarriage at 11 weeks and had just about made the decision to stop trying when I found out I was pregnant again. I spent 9 very long months worrying constantly, but I now have a 6 month old, little miracle, baby boy!

I was 39 when I fell pregnant this time and 40 when he was born. All tests I had were normal and I did nothing different during this pregnancy than the others. I have no idea how he made it, but every day I feel so lucky that he did!

I know how heartbreaking it can be, and I hope that you and the other ladies on this thread have the same outcome that I did.

(Apologies @Jlojlo but I have no experience with IVF clinics to be able to advise)
