Low AMH & embryo freezing

Due to having low AMH, and not being ready to have children right now (do have a partner), I am considering doing embryo freezing.

For context, I have low AMH which was 3.16 a month ago. Had another one done last week was 4.6pmol/l. I had an advanced ultrasound with Create which showed that I had 2/3 follicles on one ovary, and 6 on another. I also had a good uterus with no lumps etc, with good blood flow. He said because I’m 26, age is on my side.

Has anyone had any success with this? And how much did it cost?

I just don’t wish to have children in the next couple of years, and this seems like an option because of my low AMH.

Most clinics will have prices on their website. Most clinics offer egg freezing, so it will probably be a bit more expensive than that, as you'll need to have the sperm processed and added to the eggs and the embryologist will need to then incubate the eggs, you'll want them incubating to blast stage before freezing.

I would advise that you get it sorted asap. You have a good number of follicles for your AMH, the number of follicles is the best indicator for how many eggs you'll get, it can vary from month to month. You may need to look at doing 2-3 collections to get a good amount of embryos to freeze.

Freezing embryos is much better than freezing eggs, eggs are more fragile and can have issues surviving the thaw.

Egg freezing is expensive and you need to have more frozen than you would embryos because eggs don't survive the freeze thaw process very well so you will lose a lot more through the process. I'd be looking at a clinic that does a minimum number of eggs guarantee (20?) - you'd be spending in the region of £10k I imagine

I'd agree with Gardenlady that sooner gives you hopefully more chances.
At your age egg quality is likely to be good.

However, please don't be offended by this, and not to answer on a public forum but to think about since you're not starting treatment immediately - how solid is your relationship?
In the event of a split your partner may not grant permission for you to use the embryos, so you may want to think about freezing some eggs too.

Also there may be some posters here with further knowledge, as far as I understand low AMH alone isn't as bad if you are younger, so when the time comes you might want to TTC naturally for a bit in case you don't need the IVF (but you may then have the dilemma that some couples face re what to do with leftover embryos). A session with a counsellor might help you explore your feelings on different scenarios.
