Hello,

First time posting hope someone can help me as google is driving me insane. Been waiting 2 weeks for AMH results , got them today 43.3, all the numbers
On google seem to be 1.2 or in that region. Is something done with the overall number to give you a number in this region. dr was useless , said he wasn’t “that” kind of doctor and to wait for a referral but it’s stressing me out. Any help would be appreciated?

There are two different units used, yours is pmol/l.

Here's an interpretation table:

Hi @Loulou2202 sorry this is causing you stress! There are 2 different units that they measure AMH in. Pmol/l and ng/ml. Your result is in pmol. The first one gives you numbers like you have received and the second clusters around the lower numbers. You can convert your numbers here

Best of luck with it all

Loulou2202 · 25/10/2021 20:03

Thanks so much. I could find plenty online with the ng results but no idea how to convert it. I almost wish the doctor hadn’t said anything as those numbers were pretty useless to me and it just causes me to worry but feel a bit more informed now thanks to your advice. It looks like a cross between normal for my age on the @Gardenlady543 table which is reassuring but then coming up high on the conversion from @Janefx40…. I think it’s one of those I will just have to wait and see and hope in the meantime we get pregnant and this can all be a distant memory. Thank you for your help it’s much appreciated.

@Loulou2202 it's still normal for your age whether you use the chart or the conversion table! My page just converts it to ng in case you are looking at sites that use that unit.

Top of the normal range is good for amh. It means you have a good egg reserve. If you look through infertility threads you'll see that for many women the concern is that they have low amh meaning less egg reserve. As an example, mine is 4 (but then I am 44 so it's expected). When I was doing IVF the first time aged 40 my amh was 13 which is ok for that age.

When is your consultation?

Best of luck xxx

Loulou2202 · 26/10/2021 09:46

Thank you! yes I saw that, I think your right high seems to be better than low . I think it was the ranges that looked like it put me outside of normal to high but they are all a bit different I guess. Are you still going through IVF if you don’t mind me asking? I’m just finding it all very difficult I’m used to being a person who knows what’s going on and it turns out and like to make a plan but it turns out I know very little about my own body lol and Iv convinced myself something is wrong when nothing really points to that at the moment. Which I know is silly but I just can’t help it lol

@Loulou2202 trying to conceive can drive us all nuts. I was in pieces from our first cycle ! How long have you been trying?

We did 2 rounds of IVF/ICSI in 2018 resulting in our DD. Since then we did a frozen transfer of embryos that were created back then which led to a miscarriage. We then did a fresh cycle (failed) and have now been doing embryo banking and testing. That's something they do with older people or people who haven't had good results who they may think have poor embryo quality - create as many embryos as possible, test them to find any healthy ones and then transfer. We are currently doing tests to check all is ok with my uterus before we transfer. There is no reason to think you would need to do embryo banking.

Your results look good and on paper suggest that if you did need IVF, you might respond well.

Xxx

It makes you feel all over the place doesn’t it. How lovely that you were successful and have DD now :) and I’m sorry to hear about your MC. we had a Missed MC in December last year which was was awful and I think a big trigger for my worrying, I might be slightly more relaxed had that not happened and we’ve been trying ever since and no such luck. I wanted ( stupidly) desperately to be pregnant again by original due date which passed in August. It did take a months for my cycle to settle after so I know in the grand scheme of things it’s not that long although it feels like a lifetime . I’m 32 and partner is 40 so I just want to get the ball rolling now with tests in case we need some help in the future and hope in the meantime we get pregnant again , fingers crossed… good luck with your tests I hope they are all ok and I’m sure you will get some positive news on the next try , il keep my fingers crossed for you xx

@Loulou2202 I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It's a very hard thing to go through and creates so much anxiety going forward. For what it's worth I think it is totally normal to want to be pregnant by your due date. I definitely felt the same but the time came and went. I often think about how old the baby would be now, how different our lives would be etc. It's a very hard thing.

I hope you get your rainbow baby soon 💐💐💐

Hi, looked up AMH on here so that i could ask a question. Hoping for some insight and what to do next. I am 35 years old and have never actually tried for a baby, but have never conceived either following ‘accidents’. Ive really started thinking about it all and got a private fertility blood test done. Kind of freaking out…. Hormones came back in ‘normal range’ but having researched online I am not sure the numbers are great. My FSH level is 11.5 IU/L, Oestradiol is 96 pmol/L and my AMH is 10.5 pmol/L.
I have read that woman with below average AMH can get fertility support, IVF etc. how do you go about this? I am in Scotland.
Im so worried that something is very wrong and i won’t conceive. Feels like ive just had a massive reality check xx

Kay00 · 28/03/2022 16:31

Hi @LittleLady111

I found this page really helpful: theduff.co.uk/amh-levels-ivf/

Looks like you are in the 'low AMH' range which this website says 'associated with a decreased number of follicles, but you still have a good chance of getting pregnant – either naturally or through fertility treatment – especially if you have good-quality follicles'

Are you thinking of trying for a baby soon? You might not need fertility treatment to conceive, but similarly I wouldn't hang around before trying if that is an option for you.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 28/03/2022 16:49

Hi @LittleLady111

If you have regular periods, your AHM doesn't really matter at this point because you'll be releasing 1 egg a month. If you need IVF, your AMH is an indicator of how you'll respond to the hormones you're given. If you have low AMH, you're less likely to respond well and you're less likely to produce lots of eggs for collection. I'm 33 and got a 10.7 (so similar to yours). We are with a clinic for IVF (but for male factor) and the doc says she would expect more than 13 for someone between 32-35, so yours is low, but not terrible. If you're considering conceiving, it probs wise to start sooner rather than later because if you do have problems, a year / 18 months down the line, your AMH might have decreased further. Hope this helps xx

LittleLady111 · 28/03/2022 16:50

Thanks so much Kay, reassuring.
Yeah ive just started doing the clear blue advanced digital ovulation tests to see where in my cycle I am ovulating so I can try properly - fingers crossed! Would love it to happen naturally so i’ll see how I go and if there are issues I suppose I should approach my doctor xx

LittleLady111 · 28/03/2022 16:55

Thank you that is so helpful. Just a bit of a shock when i got the result. Although i dont know why as I am 35 after all but I think when you see figures it makes it all the more real. Yeah i have a 28 day regular cycle, with very occasional variation of 2 days. Never missed or overly late or anything, im a bit annoyed that I am only looking at all this now but hey ho. You’re right, sooner rather than later is the plan def xx

LT103 · 28/03/2022 22:59

@Loulou2202 don’t worry too much about it. It is higher end which is fine. Just now it won’t matter but if you come to ivf they will use that amongst other things to determine what protocol to use.

For example I’m 40 but my amh was 39 and my follicle count was high so they were worried I could end up with too many eggs which can be dangerous (and lead to OHSS) so they used a slightly different protocol. I’m in the middle of ivf just now and got 9 eggs which I’m just waiting now to see how many we have to freeze.

They will explain it all to you if you come to needing ivf but fingers crossed you get pregnant in the meantime!!

LittleLady111 · 06/04/2022 20:13

Really helpful ladies.
I had also bought the clear blue digital ovulation tests as i wanted to actually track it to see when/if i was in fact ovulating. I started testing on cycle day 6 (early but wanted a good starting point).. cycle day 6-8 i was low fertility. Cycle days 9-14 i had the flashing smiley for high fertility and today, cycle day 15, i ovulated (steady smiley showing peak fertility). This has been reassuring and factoring this into my blood results, i think now is a good time in my life to get trying! Wish me luck. All the best to you xx

Leafyfloat · 10/10/2023 09:42

Will I need IVF

AMH 8.6 pmol

Age 36/37

Janefx40 · 10/10/2023 10:09

@Leafyfloat hello. I'm afraid your AMH can't tell you that. There aren't many tests that can tell you if you need IVF although there are a few medical conditions that make it more likely.

Your AMH is an indication of your egg reserves and even if results are lower than average at a given age, if you are releasing an egg each month then you could in theory get pregnant. At age 36/37 your egg quality will also be reasonable.

Best of luck with whatever you decide x

Leafyfloat · 10/10/2023 12:19

I'm getting symptoms of low estrogen/perimenopause already.

How low is my AMH, have ppl with similar levels had to do IVF?

I'm sorry, I feel a bit desperate.

Janefx40 · 10/10/2023 14:56

@Leafyfloat I'm so sorry you are feeling desperate. Your levels aren't desperately low but as I said, AMH levels in themselves aren't a reason to do IVF.

Did you have a full panel of hormone tests on day 1-3 of your cycle?

Leafyfloat · 16/10/2023 08:36

I had estradiol that was in the normal range maybe a bit low and FSH which was 3.1.

I haven't had testosterone or progesterone.
