Possibility of pregnancy with no tubes

Hi all I think I know the answer to my question but just wanted to know if anyone has got pregnant with 1 tube removed and the other cut sealed or so I think. I had an ectopic 13 years ago and had a tube removed due to rupture and continued to try get pregnant. After a year I had a hsg which revealed my other tube was blocked so I opted to remove that tube to start ivf. I was told the tube was removed. I did ivf and had my baby 6 years ago. 2 years later doctors found cysts on my ovaries and put me on the mini pill to stop my periods in the hope the cysts will go away. He also told me one of my other tubes were not completely removed but cut but couldn't see how I'd get pregnant as it hasn't happened in all these years so wouldn't happen now. The pill didn't do anything to the cysts and I still continued to have periods up until recently. I've been on the pill for 2 years now and this is the first period I've missed but I don't know how late I am because since I'm on the pill I don't keep track but normally I start halfway threw each pack and haven't. I know the only way to know would be to take a test but I'm on the fence at buying one because I just don't see how it's possible to be pregnant on the pill and with no tubes or half a tube and I kind of feel stupid for even thinking of the possibility. Surely dh sperm aren't all of a sudden super swimmers or my tube has fully opened somehow. Has anyone ever got pregnant with no tubes or blocked tubes? I'll give it another week and test. Thankyou

I would say it's 99.9% a medical impossibility - I lost both tubes to ruptured ectopic pregnancies- and specifically requested they be removed as close to the uterus as they could to avoid any chance of a future ectopic via IVF in the stump left behind. But I did read a random story once where someone swore blind their mother had a surprise baby after her tube grew back 🤔

I've always thought absolutely no way at all is it possible until the doctor said one of my tubes were not fully removed and I'm shocked because they always said they both were removed so always made me wonder what if it does happen? Could it? I think I read that story too.

I think it's just unclear medical terminology to be honest - I was told my first tube was removed with my ectopic but when I questioned things afterwards they said oh that's just what they call it "removal" - they actually leave a pretty long stump/length of tube in and just remove the bit wherever the ectopic was! When my second tube ruptured I requested what was eventually noted as a "stumpectomy" on my medical notes where during surgery for my second they went back in to where I had my first ectopic and removed all of the tube that they had left behind

I remain very unclear after my ectopic with the status of the remaining tube, although didn’t think I was unclear at the time. One tube removed other was told was completely blocked from side effects of ectopic complications. Have been pregnant since the event, both with ivf and naturally.

@Thelonggrass yes my renaming tube was also blocked due to damage from the ectopic they also said I had some sort of liquid in the tube hydro something can't remember the actual name and they recommended me remove that tube as the hydro can be damaging to the embryo during ivf. When the doctor told me my tube wasn't fully removed as I believed I asked what they thought about me getting pregnant and they said they still don't think it's possible and if I did it would more than likley be another ectopic and after years of trying before the ivf I doubt it would happen now but after me being late I looked it up and saw a couple of stories which made me think I wonder how many people this has happened to. Maybe it's just a strange month for me but it obviously scares me if I have part of a tube incase its somehow opened. Sounds really stupid but after reading the stories ot just really threw me since I believed I had no tubes whatsoever.

@Winterrain7 (sorry long post)
I was told 6 years ago I had hydrosalpinx (fluid in the tubes) so they left it for a while to see how it went (don't know why) they then tried to remove it but due to severe complications (I had a twisted bowel had half removed when I was 17) they couldn't get in due to so much scar tissue. They then sent me to a different hospital where they then gained access & drained the fluid away and the pain seemed to go after that then about a year later the pains started again so I was giving a scan at my local hospital who said it had come back so I was sent back to the other hospital again then they said I would have no choice but to have them both removed before I could have IVF due to the fluid damaging the embryo. I had this done last November. However I had been on no contraception for the 6 years & had never been able to fall pregnant. I had a cycle of IVF in August which unfortunately failed.
I guess a test would be the only answer. Are you still taking the pill?

Winterrain7 · 17/10/2021 16:30

Thanks for ypur reply. Yes they've still asked me to continue to take the pill in the hope they'll reduce the size of the cysts which they think was down to the ivf and they did mention the hydro is present but didn't say where it was and I'm assuming it's the stump because that's how I found out the tube hadn't been fully removed. I actually nervously laughed and said no I don't have tubes and she said you still have part of one ot wasn't fully removed

@Winterrain7 that's weird. We all assume they have done what they say they have then to find out later is a bit of a shock!
