NHS Cycles

Could someone advise if the cycles you have free on the nhs are counted per ivf round or by each transfer please?
Keep forgetting to ask the clinic! I have 2 cycles on the nhs within my area and have already had an ivf round. Couldn't have fresh because of ohss. Had FET in July which failed and am waiting to start another FET next month and wanting to know if that will be my last or if this still counts as one because its using embryos from the same ivf round?

Thanks in advance!

In Scotland one cycle is counted if you make it to egg retrieval. Any frozen transfers from that egg collection are counted in that first cycle. X

It differs between areas, so you'll need to check with your clinic or with your trust's/health board's website. Where I am, one cycle is one egg retrieval and the use of embryos from that (fresh or frozen) until one results in a live birth.

@unknownscot @Scirocco thanks both so much for your replies! 😊 xx

Definitely worth checking with your trust/health board ... mine covers from egg collection up until all embryos have been transferred (even if the first resulted in a birth, they still cover until all embryos are transferred, which I thought was amazing! But it does differ based on location)

Mine was one cycle, which included all transfers from one egg collection until a live birth. They paid storage on remaining blasts until baby was 1.

@lotsofqs that is amazing! I got 10 blasts from my NHS cycle so your deal would be perfect for me! (Not that I'm complaining.)

@Holskey @Lotsofqs thanks for your replies 😊
I've read up on the funding and it seems that one full cycle is comprised of a round of ivf and the transfer of any resultant fresh or frozen embryos, so I guess that's answered my question! Thanks for your help.

@Lotsofqs that sounds amazing!! I'll have to remember to ask my clinic next time just to have some more information. Thanks 😊
