Inconclusive hycosy??

so frustrated

Just came back from my long awaited hycosy and the right tube is 'inconclusive'

I tried to understand what that meant and she seemed to say it either means its blocked,that she just didnt catch the dye going through it (operator error) or maybe it was a spasm but she didnt think so as i felt no pain and was fairly relaxed.

Has anyone had experience of this? Did they do further tests or do they just leave it as 'inconclusive' and move on as I have one tube clear.

any insight welcome I'm feeling really sad as I'm searching for answers as to why ttc is so hard for us :(

@bmachine
I don't really have any special insight, but I think maybe Hycosy always have some element of 'inconclusive' about them because spasms can make tubes appear blocked. I had one done at a private clinic in June as I was getting stressed trying to arrange it through NHS. I was told that my right tube was blocked as the doctor tried twice to get the dye up there, repositioning the catheter in between and it wouldn't go.
I sent the results and images they gave me to the NHS fertility clinic and a few weeks ago had a consultation with a gynaecologist from there who said the results indicated a blockage, but it could have been a spasm. They've said they can refer me for a laparoscopy to investigate if it really is blocked, so that might be an option to look into.
They also have me down as unexplained sub fertility as I think one blocked tube would explain things taking longer, but not the full two and a half years we've been trying.
I'm sorry you're feeling sad at the moment. It's so hard and it really is so frustrating that answers are so difficult to come by

Thank you for your response. It's so frustrating I guess you go there hoping for answers/things to eliminate not 'inconclusive'. My assumption is that its blocked as I felt no spasm. I have one tube clear and she talked to me about how it was possible for one tube to migrate and pick up the egg from the opposite ovary?but I wonder how often this happens...like you we have been trying for a while. I will have to read more about laparoscopy and see if it's something I should ask them to consider. Thanks for sharing it means a lot

@bmachine Glad to help in any tiny way

Yes, the doctor who did my Hycosy said the same to me about the other tube being able to pick up the eggs. The ultrasound scan showed I was going to ovulate from the blocked side that month and I said to him 'so, there's no point in us even trying this month, is there?' And so he explained how that sometimes happens, so there is 'always a chance' and it's 'always worth trying'
It's so exhausting when it's been so long though. I hope you get some answers and some solutions soon
