When to see the doctor for baby #2?

Just wondering if anyone had any advice? I was undergoing fertility investigations for #1 after 15 months TTC but there wasn't anything conclusive from the tests. I was given 6 months of Letrozole before considering IVF but very luckily fell with DS on the first round.

We have now been trying for #2 since May and AF has just arrived. How long do I leave it before making contact with the doctor? Do I need to wait for over 12 months as I am under 35 before they will consider looking at anything again?

I think they should consider everything. I would pressure your gp to refer you for fertility treatment, or I would go private if it was possible. Best f luck!

Hey- I may be wrong but I am not sure if you can get any fertility help on the NHS once you have had a child. I think you may need to go private? Sorry if I am wrong- hopefully someone else can help!

I'm also struggling with secondary infertility, its really hard and I feel we dont really fit properly into any category for support as we are blessed with one but still feeling the pain of infertility monthly :(*. I waited for 12 months before approaching nhs gp and got a referral for tests (blood, hycosy etc) I also paid for private scans and amh . Awaiting my nhs hycosy currently and then will have a consultation call with nhs. I imagien that's where help for me will end and we will need to go private.

@jane1284 ahh yes, I feel like I have heard something similar to that too now you have mentioned it.

@bmachine it is a difficult place to be as like you say, blessed with number 1 but it doesn't make your want of a sibling for them any easier! It is good that you have tests on NHS and hopefully you get some answers and help soon x

Sounds like they should at least offer you the initial tests which is good! I hope your GP is helpful. I guess there is no harm in asking them now whether they can offer any tests. If they say you have to wait a while you may as well go private for tests if you can afford and don't want to wait. Good luck x

I could be wrong and obviously would depend on the CCG but I think you can get clomid or similar on the NHS even if it's for a second child as obviously it's just a drug you take unmonitored at home and doesn't involve the cost of standard ivf or iui treatment

Oh, sorry that this wasn't the month. I would ask your gp, if they could give you some bloods. I left it too late but I was deep in denial which didn't help me, my dh, our marriage nor our DS. If you are able to avoid the pain I went through, please do it.
