Freezing eggs ?

Might be a silly question but we are waiting to cycle again after a failed IVF in may

Bit of background - we are unexplained
1st cycle
9 eggs - 8 mature
7 fertilised
But none made it to blastocyst on day 5 so transferred one anyway on day 5 but was told would be a very low success rate
Day 6 - 2 made it to blastocyst but not good enough to freeze so that was so disappointing

Our consultant didn't want us to cycle again until my DP had a comet test and it's come back high dna fragmentation so we are on a diet and supplements in the hope to bring it down ( we've paid for 2 cycles with access )

We can cycle again all being well oct/November but if we miss that for any reason we can't do it in December as we are away for a family wedding so a possibility we may not be able to cycle at all this year - so I was thinking could I suggest freezing my eggs ? Reason being I'm 39 (40 in may) and low AMH (5.6) so time is not on my hands. That way I can cycle ASAP and that gives us time to get to the bottom of my partners tests as we may have a long road ie
Urologist after this diet (90 days) which we know is a possibility

I know I can ask the clinic just thought I'd get some advice on here - or if I'm being silly

Thanks for reading xx

I've just read somewhere that over 38 freezing is not recommended- 😭

I would have thought in this specific situation it's worth suggesting it to the clinic. I would guess they don't recommend over 38 generally because it is usually sold as a means for women to significantly postpone having a child and for the money and effort involved you'd want a very high probability that one of the eggs would lead to a successful pregnancy. But if you are going to go through another egg collection at some point anyway, doing it sooner rather than later can't hurt?
I've just finished my first unsuccessful ivf cycle btw. Had a similar drop off in terms of getting a good percentage of eggs collected fertilised, but then the embryo development tailed off and only 2 out of 10 day 3 embryos made blastocyst (very fortunate to get those 2, i know) I'm wondering if we should look into dna fragmentation test too, but also keen not to lose time before another round of egg collection.
Your idea sounds good to me, but I guess you'd need advise on what effect freezing might have on the eggs from the clinic
🤞for you

To be honest with low AMH egg freezing isn't worth it - eggs have a much lower survival rate being frozen/thawed - most women even with good AMH need to do multiple rounds to get enough to freeze to have a decent chance of getting some blastocysts at the end. A couple of months waiting Isn't going to make much difference so I'd wait and go ahead when his comet score is better

@KatRee @twinningatlife thank you both
I don't suppose it is worth it really - just trying to cover all angles. I guess I can ask to see what they say. It's not too long to wait for the comet test now. I'm guessing im pre-emoting IF the results are still bad and we have more investigations to do then im thinking maybe it's better to freeze what I do have now, particularly as I've been dieting and taking supplements.

But thank you for your advice.

Sorry to hear about your unsuccessful round xx
