Low AMH - will donor egg IVF be my best option

Hi,
Just looking to ask a question to someone who knows a lot about this
I had a fertility test about a year ago and my AMH levels are quiet low at 9.2 pmol. I’m 34 years old, so this was at 33.

Would this mean my best chance with IVF is using donor eggs?
Everything else on my test looked fine/normal.

Thanks!

Hi @S1987uk
Nooooo!!! My first AMH when I was 36 was 7 and I got my amazing son first try. My second AMH test when I was 38 was 5.2 and I got my beautiful daughter! Am now looking to try for a third and i was amazed that at 41 my AMH is still 5! So I will definitely be sticking with my own eggies! I think you should to!
Good luck x

Thanks @firefly37 - amazing, this makes me feel so positive and happy! So good to know... and maybe I'm overthinking and panicking too early. Can I ask, do you know if AFC has a big impact on success? Mine was 15, which I'm led to believe is fine? Smile

@S1987uk I totally second that no!!

My AMH was 5.78 and my AFC fluctuated between 9 and 12 at 34/35. I haven't had success yet, but I had 9 eggs retrieved on our first go, and 6 eggs retrieved on our second just now.

An AFC of 15 is totally fine. Definitely no need to panic about donor eggs for now :)

Also, just personal advice for any future IVF attempts - it's quality over quantity, so try not to worry if you hear of others with a higher AMH or more follicles/eggs... it's the one right one that you need! Best of luck xx

Nooooo don't consider donor eggs for now. Your AFC is actually really good!

firefly37 · 09/09/2021 17:48

@S1987uk... I'm glad that's made you more positive :)... I usually have 4 follies on the right and 8 on the left develop with stimms. My first IVF 11 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 5 fertilised and 3 made it to day 5 (one is DS). My second fresh cycle, 10 eggs collected but only 3 mature (I think this could have been as I misunderstand my stimms dosage and under dosed for the first 3 days!)... All 3 fertilised and grew to day 5 (one being my DD). Frozen transfers have not worked for me... So moving onto fresh round 3 ASAP! Lots of luck xx

You don’t need to consider donor eggs with those numbers. Mine was also 9.2 and I was 35. I think my AFC was 11. I have DS from my first round and 3 blasts in the freezer.

Absolutely no way to the straight to donor eggs.

My amh was 2.8 age 34 and I got pregnant with ivf on the first go at 35. I’ve also been pregnant twice naturally.

No no don't worry! I was in the same boat as you a few months ago, but the lovely ladies here reassured me (and then the doc) that this can get better!

MIW01 · 15/09/2021 17:25

@Ilikeviognier thank you for sharing it gives me hope, mine os 3.9 at 35 and my younger sister similar at 31! I've just been through round 1 of IVF which wasn'tsuccessfulbut we suspect due to male factor as fiancéehas a varicocele @S1987uk my sister actually conceived naturally with very low reserve so no need to worry. Fertility clinoc just told me they'll put me on high dose meds next round.
