IVF at 40

Hi ladies, I am 40, and started the first cycle of out IVF over a Week ago. My egg retrieval was today, my stomach is sore.
We got 14 eggs which will be fertilized by ICSI. I know it has to do with egg quality and all, but I am just worried and we hope get done success. We are doing a 3 cycle and transfer after the 3rd cycle. Also decided to do some PGT on a few embryos. What are your thoughts guys? Any advice based on experience?

@Hopeful199 the injections actually went smooth for us, a couple of spills but not much as the dr said follicles were growing as they should. When anxiety begins for me is after egg collection, the calls from the embryologist to update😁

I hear you, I have been doing these cycles back to back since August. And I am clear for a fresh transfer while the others get tested and it still feels like we are no where the end.

What supplements are you currently taking?

@Justhopeful oh bless you, that is a lot to go through.

How many transfers have you had so far? Fingers crossed the fresh transfer works for you.

I’m taking:

  • CoQ10 (300mg though the box says 1 a day…… not sure if that’s sensible?!
  • pregnacare
  • omega 3
  • vitamin D

My consultant is not convinced they do anything…. But I figure you have to try? I have also started acupuncture x

Thank you. Not had any transfer yet, been embryo banking, this is my 3rd cycle, and what ever we get from here we do a fresh transfer and test the rest.

I don't have high hopes for the fresh transfer, but we'll see. We thought to do that as we have to wait 3 to 5 weeks for the PGT-a results. If it doesn't work out then hope we have a normal embryo to transfer.

Been taking ovaboost - for egg quality. Vit-d , pregnacare, zinc, omgega 3 fish oil. And probiotics for healthy womb lining I was told. Someone from mumsnet recommended it as it is helpful for implantation.

All the waiting is the worst bit! And I do find the clinic a bit chaotic….. feel like there is a lot of assumed knowledge… but maybe that will get better when we properly start appointments this week? Just wish I had a crystal ball to know it will all be worth it!! Everything is crossed for you! Hopefully 2022 will be the year!

@39yearoldwantbaby how is your journey going? I am 39 (nearly 40) and just about to start.... feel excited but anxious too!

@Hopeful199 thanks for asking. Egg collection went well, of 12 retrieved 11 mature and 7 fertilized. So now the wait begins. Also been cleared for a FT on Friday. That would be the first time🤞🏽. Will be 41 in March.

It will be worth it in the end, we just have to be patient😮❤️

We have floods booked for Thursday so process officially getting started and hoping to start down ref on my next cycle. Patience is something I need to work on…….!!

@MK85 Hi, I finished 3 cycles of embryo banking. Fresh transfer transfer failed due to a difficult transfer. Had a hysteroscopy and they saw I had some adhesions from previous myomectomy which was sorted. Good news is I had an FET in June and currently 16+2 today all things going okay due March when I'll be 42.

I hope everyone else has had some good news as well. Wish you all the best @MK85

Hi @Keyu just wondering how your cycles went?
also did your clinic transfer all your embryos including the 6CC?
I’m at a local clinic and they wouldn’t transfer a CC
