Travelling with medication

Hello!

Just wondering if anyone has recently travelled with their IVF medication? I had an embryo transfer today and am travelling to Greece on Wednesday and as I'm on lubion injections daily, I'll need to bring the medication with me. I am slightly paranoid about putting it in the hold luggage in case it gets lost so was going to take all the needles and medication in my hand baggage. My clinic has also given me a letter to confirm I need to take it. This seems to be in line with the guidance on the BA website, but I just wanted to check if anyone had any experience / tips on travelling with needles??

Thanks v much!!

You just keep it separate and then at security you show the staff the letter and explain that there are needles so they don't get hurt. I mean the needles are obviously wrapped but best to warn them.

My clinic advised against putting any IVF medication in the hold as the temperatures would be outside of the recommended storage temperatures. And as you say there is always the possibility of your luggage being delayed or lost.

If your medication needs to be chilled you can use an ice pack, I just used the ones that came with the medication, they stayed cold for ages.

If you have a letter from the doctor, and an ice pack you'll be okay I think.

Awesome, thank you! That’s good to know about the hold temperatures, that wouldn’t have crossed my mind….

My clinic advised that putting the meds in hold luggage for a few hours was ok. So I did that.

But I also had one that I needed to take on the flight; so 1 injection with 2 needles. They didn't even ask about it at security. So I am sure both would be ok. But as PPs have advised, if you take in hand baggage, keep the letter.

I carried 18 needles and they didn’t even bat an eyelid or ask for my letter…! Thanks for all the advice, it did set my mind at ease before I set off :o)
