I have recurrent miscarriages and thought we'd found a cause (immune issues), these were controlled but then I had a loss after my first ivf round, so I'm being tested for this, should get my results in 2 weeks. It is believed to be a common cause of recurrent losses.

Do you have chronic endomitritis? I think the treatment is a course of antibiotics.

Saraah30 · 15/08/2021 10:43

Thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear about your miscarriages Sad yes, I unfortunately have chronic endometritis. Antibiotics dont help. as I understand it, its very difficult or impossible to get rid of this. It is acute endometritis that can be cured with a course of antibiotics...

I hadn't realised that it was acute that could be treated. I'm sorry you're struggling to get treatment. Are you under a specialist? What tests have you done? X

@Saraah30 how was the endometritis diagnosed? I had a biopsy that showed I had 0.00% lactobacillus (good bacteria) in my uterus, the dysbiotic bacteria weren't the ones that cause endometritis though. It was treated with target antibiotics and then vaginal probiotics. I'm now having a repeat biopsy after another unsuccessful Ivf transfer. I had issues with lining quality before I had the microflora treated there seems to have been an improvement in this. I am also susceptible to picking up bacterial vaginosis so have to keep on top of that.

Chronic endometritis can cause Ashermans syndrome (adhesions and scaring). Have you had that looked into?
I had a HSG which looked normal, but a hysteroscopy showed I had cervical stenosis caused by adhesions which were removed. It's important to have this done with an Ashermans specialist as if someone isn't experienced in the condition they can cause more damage.

My sister-in-law did on her 3rd round x

NoCallerID · 19/09/2021 18:26

I did after a 2 week course of doxycycline.
I had acute endometritis in March last year (this wasn't diagnosed as hospital wouldn't see me due to very fever and covid fears).
I had to go through 4 early miscarriages before being diagnosed with CE just before Christmas last year. I am part of Tommy's CERM trial. You're fortunately wrong saying the antibiotics don't help the CE - it just has to be the correct ones: Doxycycline. Look up the trial, Prof Quenby and her team is doing an amazing job and I'm living proof that it works, and so are many many other women. I don't know the count from my follow up biopsy but the CE doesn't have to be 100% cured, we don't know yet if this can be done long term or will eventually come back, it needs to be at a low enough level to maintain a pregnancy.

I had CE. Took antibiotics. Tried again and miscarried again. I’ve had 5 losses in total. I thought this time around would be successful. I have no idea what to do next.

Momof4angels · 02/12/2021 20:51

Had 100mg twice a day for 14 days. I tested positive for inflammation yes.

Labellex · 06/12/2021 23:41

Please get checked for mycoplasma and ureaplasma they can both cause chronic inflammation and the nhs doesn’t routinely test for them! You can get private tests x

Saraah30 · 27/12/2021 21:03

I have sent you a PM.

does anti-inflammatory medicine work as a cure?

Check again for CE, you might still have it, many ladies needed few rounds of antibiotics or had to try the different ones to get rid of it.

Imisscoffee2021 · 16/06/2022 18:36

A friend of mine who has had surgery due to endo 6 times on her womb got pregnant really fast when she started teying. She has sex every two days for a few months and was pregnant second month I believe.

ChickenT2b · 18/08/2022 10:26

Hi @Gardenlady543 please could I ask where you are being seen for all of these tests ? I used to also have frequent BV and would like my micro biome testing for the good bacteria. I’m going to take doxycycline in case I have chronic endometritis and currently take probiotics with lactobacilli. Thanks

Gardenlady543 · 18/08/2022 12:02

@ChickenT2b these easiest way for you to get your uterine microbiome tested is to order FERTILYSIS Female Microbiome: Full

www.fertilysis.com/tests/female-infections/fertilysis-female-microbiome

That will involve you collecting some menstrual fluid and doing a vaginal swab.

The EMMA ALICE is another option but you will need to have a biopsy taken and would need to arrange this through a fertility clinic.

If you're only interested in the vaginal microbiome then there are some swabs you can get to test for that.

Jolijoli · 18/08/2022 12:07

I was told by the hospital staff that acute is worse than chronic. Chronic could be treated

MK85 · 04/02/2023 12:21

Bump. Have you any update
