Low AMH, Endermetriosis, Thyroid AND Fibroids

I'm concerned! My fertility doctor thinks it should be ok but I've recently undergone a fertility MOT due to two miscarriages and I have all four of these things.

My AMH is 17, I have two small fibroids and endermetriosis.

To top it off I have thyroid antibodies and a thyroid that's out of control up and down and has been for 20 years.

I'm 35 and worried. Don't know why I'm posting I guess not really looking for answers - or maybe I am, success stories or any advice?!

Maybe freezing what is there of my eggs is a good idea as I had really hoped for at least 2 children.

Feeling a bit demotivated by it all.

Anyone?!

Hi @ttcsucks I have low amh of 5 at 37, I wouldn't say 17 is too bad. With mild ivf I got 3 good quality blastocysts and amh is only really useful to know how you'll respond to ivf meds rather than potential to conceive.

I've got multiple fibroids, the main thing is they aren't in the uterus or pushing into the uterus - do you know where yours are? If they're impacting on your uterus they might need to be removed.

I'm sorry for your losses, I've have recurrent losses - have you had any investigations into your losses? There could be a link with your thyroid and thyroid antibodies. I've been diagnosed with an overactive immune system which affects my fertility and ability to maintain a pregnancy, so it might be worth looking into this further. I take steroids and other immune modulating medications when I'm ttc / doing ivf.

I think freezing embryos would be recommended rather than freezing your eggs. Best wishes x

@VenusStarr thank you so much!

And thinking about it the doctor did mention freezing embryos as opposed to eggs you're right.

I have thyroid antibodies too - I've been out on thyroxine and advised to Monitor monthly.

Have your losses been when your thyroid changed?

Have you had a successful pregnancy to full term?

Also to answer your questions he said one is slightly against the uterus but as they're 1cm and 2cm he sees no cause for concern.

Miscarriages have not yet been investigated he advised me to do that if I have another one

That's good about the fibroids @ttcsucks mine are all in the wall / on the outside, so I think they prefer not to mess about with them and size wise I think yours seem OK.

I'm on a low dose of levothyroxine as mine fluctuates but it's not the reason for my losses, I just need to monitor it if I do get pregnant.

I've not had a successful pregnancy yet, I had an early loss after my ivf cycle, so I'm doing some more tests before I do a frozen embryo transfer.

It's awful how they say to have another miscarriage before they'll look into causes. We did get tests after 2 losses via Tommy's but they showed nothing and I had 2 more before we went private and got some answers and a treatment plan x

Hi Op, I had a bit of a list of things as well - I didn’t have thyroid problems but did also have ando (as well as endo), ovarian cysts, fibroids, partially blocked Fallopian tubes and a low AMH. Also when scanned I was having problems with my womb lining some months (not developing or not fully shedding). My periods were dreadful, with long irregular cycles but then short bleeding period with lots of clotting. Sometimes I wasn’t ovulating.

Also I had surgery on an ovarian cyst in my early twenties and that means one of my ovaries has been partially removed.

I had a successful IVF cycle about 3 years ago - it was my first cycle and I am so lucky that I have a LO now. My cycles have become more regular, my bleeding is better (more red, less clots, not just a short bleed) etc. Have quite a definite, regular cycle now and definitely ovulate each month.

I had an FET this month for a second little one (waiting on the outcome) but my AMH had actually gone up when I was doing the tests for this cycle, so it is better now in my late thirties then it was in my mid thirties.

So I guess I’m just saying you can have a real list and still have success. My fertility consultant was hot on testing me for thyroid. Think they often see problems with that so I personally I think I would have a really good look at getting that stabilised.

Fingers crossed for you - it is a real shock but good luck!! Xx

Thanks both. I forgot to add I also have something called adenomyosis 🤦‍♀️

It's just never ending and starting to become a bit draining really.

I'm pleased my thyroid is now being controlled and I'm glad I got a fertility MOT so now I have a clear picture of everything.

Fingers crossed I will be pregnant again soon and hopefully this one works out

Don’t worry, when I said ando I meant adenomyosis. It definitely can still happen. One friend had it badly, had an extensive op for it and conceived naturally. Mine didn’t even register as an issue to be honest. IVF can overcome many obstacles!

Littlemissnc · 14/08/2021 11:26

I have adenomyosis, amh was 3, barely any follicles, thyroid issue , I’m in second trimester now after immune treatment. Steroids, intralipids etc. I had 4 mcs before that. You’re amh seems really good!
Can you do a hystereoscopy to check internally and remove anything obvious?
I would continue to try naturally for a few months but look into immune treatments, get yourself on meds for thyroid etc

Littlemissnc · 14/08/2021 11:27

Your!

VenusStarr · 14/08/2021 11:35

That's good to hear @Littlemissnc congratulations. I have adenomyosis too, only diagnosed earlier this year. I had a chemical after my first ivf round, but have 2 frozen embryos, so once I get my results back from the era, emma and alice tests I'm hoping we'll have success with a FET - my immune protocol is similar to yours. Best wishes.

It can feel so overwhelming @ttcsucks my ivf doctor, my recurrent mc specialist and the ivf specialist at his clinic all think the adenomyosis is not a factor for miscarriage, infertility or implantation, so I'm trying to hold onto that ❤️ best wishes x
