Medicated FET - early progesterone rise

Hi ladies,

I am preparing myself for a medicated Frozen embryo transfer.

The Nhs clinic has put me on 8mg of estrogen which I started on day 1 of my periods. ( I haven't been on any down regulation in the previous cycle)

I am currently on my day 8 and I am getting symptoms as if I am going to ovulate anytime..

I did an ovulation test and my LH is on peak. I am really scared that my progesterone might rise even before my first scan which is booked for day 12.

Since I am doing my transfer via NHS Ivf they do not do any blood test before transfer or starting progestone tablets.

Has anyone been in this situation where the progesterone levels much earlier than expected and the cycle was cancelled?

Hi @Rj1988 there is a chance that people ovulate in a medicated FET without downregulation, when this happens they need to be converted to a natural FET, so the transfer is timed after you have ovulated. You need to speak with your clinic to tell them.

@Gardenlady543 - thank you!! Does that mean the that cycle is wasted then and we need to start again next month?

@Rj1988 it depends if your clinic are happy to monitor you and time the transfer and if they're open at the time the transfer needs to take place, my clinic shut on a Sunday so the cycle would be cancelled if it fell then.

The body naturally producing a follicle is the concern when not using downregulation, it happens in about 1 in 10 cycles. Don't risk not telling your clinic and doing the transfer because it needs to be timed right and your body's hormones will change the timing.

@Gardenlady543 - yes my clinic wont do natural transfers as they don't work on weekends.

Also I went for a scan and nurses refused to do a blood test however they scanned me and said it's very unlikely that I would have ovulated because all the follicles were small in size and there were no dominant follicle that she could find. So keeping my fingers crossed xx

That's good news that your follicles look quiet. How annoying that they won't do a blood test for extra reassurance, my clinic would insist on it!
