Where do you get needles, syringes and sharps bins from? Asda didn’t supply with my drugs

Hi all,
I got my drugs from Asda but have noticed I have no syringes and needles or sharps bin. I know I can get some syringes and needles off my clinic hopefully when I go in a few weeks but I need some before then (live two hours from clinic). I am doing ivf privately. I can see you can buy sharps bins on Amazon-has anyone done this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Hi, you can get everything you need from Medisave.

Do you need help knowing what needles and syringes you need, or do you know what you need?

Thanks so much -I will check them out. Do you know which needles and syringes I would need for 0.5 of buserelin? Thanks

Do you mean 0.5ml? If so then you would probably be best going for a 1ml syringe with a needle built in. Like this one:
www.medisave.co.uk/bd-micro-fine-1ml-insulin-syringe-033mm-29g-127mm-x-100-p-101026.html

The only disadvantage of having the needle built in, is it takes longer to draw up large quantities. But you should be ok with 0.5ml.

If you wanted to get the needle separately then I usually get a green needle to draw up with and a yellow needle to inject.

I also make sure to get alcohol wipes, sterile swabs and a sharps bin when I'm ordering. Also as you have to pay for p&p make sure to bulk order for anything you might need to be on in the future. I think I have enough needles and syringes for about 3 years of cycles!!

Great thanks -will try the syringe with needle built in. Then I move to only 0.2ml so I guess the small one will work well. Is there any particular sharps bin you need to get -or just any?
Thanks for your help!

You should be fine at measuring 0.2ml with a 1ml syringe, definitely don't go higher on the syringe volume than 1ml as that would be tricky.

You will want a purple sharps bin, so one from this page:
www.medisave.co.uk/consumables-general-supplies/sharps-bins/purple.html

I have the 1L ones but they aren't in stock at the moment. Your clinic should be able to dispose of the sharps for you when it gets full. So you might want to check if it needs to be a certain one for them to do that.

Hi, i also got my drugs from Asda. I got my needles, sharps bin and syringes from my local needle exchange. They were really good and they are free.

Thank you so much -im also noticing now that I need a bigger draw up needle and small needle for lubion. I thought they were all in pre syringes-but no! Syringe wise -do any fit or do you need certain ones to match? Sorry for all my questions! @Gardenlady543

I found that all in one insulin needles blunted very easily on the rubber bung on the Buserelin bottle, and weren’t pleasant to inject.

I tried a couple and then went back to using separate green drawing needles & yellow 30 gauge insulin needles. If you’ve ordered the yellow needles that GardenLady has suggested I would use them for Buserelin as well.

Gardenlady543 · 24/07/2021 18:16

@Porridgeislife I was thinking of advising @mouse1234567 to get a 1ml with no built in needle if they were getting the green and yellow needles anyway. If it was just a few shots then I'd probably go with the built in needle to save some money, but anymore and as you say it's probably best to go with a separate needle. Drawing up with a high gauge needle can be a right nightmare!

Porridgeislife · 24/07/2021 18:27

GardenLady that is true as well! It takes forever with the fine needles.
