Don’t know if this right place to post,

I’m a new to this and haven’t started ivf yet. We paid private for test in March 2020 and cane back u have low amh 5 (I’m 32 now) so was advised get referred on nhs for ivf. Was referred back last June and had appointment with gynaecologist in November who agreed I should be referred for ivf.
Finally referred to WFI in March. We had 1st consultation, wasn’t really given any info. Went for test and blood test. When I had my scan they said 1 ovary had 4 big follicles but the other ovary had 4 very small ones. My amh is still low.
We are now waiting for our consultation to see if I can have ivf or what our options are. Anyone else had similar situation?

I'm in Wales and have had IVF. As far as I know if you are under 40, BMI under 30, non-smoker, have been trying for at least 2 years (at least 1 year if over 35 I think but I can't remember), and you have no children already then you should be elligible to be refered for IVF on the NHS even with a low AMH (I think AMH is only a factor for eligibility in Wales if you are over 40). I have no idea about waiting lists/timescales though - I suspect that depends on area.

It's also possible that since you are relatively "young" in fertility terms they will suggest doing an HSG first (to check your tubes are open and so you should be able to concieve naturally), sperm checks for your partner and possibly suggest trying clomid for a few months too. Basically they may not "rush" you through IVF at your age yet - they may suggest trying other options like fertility drugs/more tests first. Unless they feel your low AMH is a reason to expedite you, but only a consultant woud be able to tell you that.

@IamnotwhouthinkIam
Thanks for the reply. We have had all the test done, checked everything for me the only thing they said was about my ovaries and on one side I have 4 big follicles but on the other side they were very very small. Everything was fine with my husband.
We have a follow up consultation to discuss our results but I’m worried if I will be able to have ivf if only one ovary has large follicles and with low amh.
The dr did say if I was eligible for ivf after they have had all the test results we should start in 2.5-3 months time so not a too long wait.

@Rugby7777 I think it's very unlikely that the follicles will be an issue for IVF. With the stronger IVF drugs the smaller ones may get bigger anyway and potentially each contain an egg - but even if they dont, if you get 4 big follicles again, that could mean 4 good eggs. Your AFC and your AMH results (plus other bloods like FSH) mainly help give the consultant a rough idea of what type and strength of drugs to put you on - as far as I know at your age it shouldn't effect whether you can have IVF in the first place.
