Chemical or keep some hope?

I'm 10dp5dt and today is OTD for me (bloods).

I had a FRER faint positives at 6, 7 and 8 dpt and an implantation bleed.

Clear Blue early test today and digital test says "not pregnant" and whilst I think I see s very very faint line if the dye test I don't know if I'm just kidding myself.

Any chance this is going to end well, of do I need to expect bloods will confirm a chemical pregnancy?

Any stories of positive outcomes would be really helpful, it's going to be a long day.

@2mumlife the GP will tell you that anything under 4 is fine but for pregnancy it needs to be under 2.5 (your IVF consultant will confirm)

VenusStarr · 25/06/2021 09:36

Sending love @2mumlife I hope your GP is supportive, mine signed me off for a couple of weeks to get some headspace. Its really daunting to think about next steps.
I've been advised to do some additional tests before we jump straight back in. Always here if you want to chat. X

@MabelG Thanks Mabel, yes I'd read it needs to be under 2.5, and also to make sure they do T4 and T3?

@VenusStarr Which tests are they recommending if you don't mind me asking? My clinics plan (before this cycle) was to re-test my AMH if we needed to go through another EC round but that's it. I'll get my 'review' letter on Tuesday though, so will see if that recommended anything else (it usually doesn't) and after that I can book in review consultation.

@2mumlife yes that is right. Other tests I had after my 2 chemicals were full blood count (checks platelet count amongst other things), mini thrombophilia screen (to do with blood clotting) and lupus anticoagulant (I think that is to do with immunes). Your GP might be able to organise some of these too. As a result of mine I was put on the aspirin and steriods

My ivf doctor wants me to have a hysteroscopy @2mumlife but my recurrent miscarriage specialist doesn't think that will tell us much, I had one in 2019 and he said with how many scans I've had and the level of detail, he'd be surprised if it told us anything. He suggested that I have the ERA / EMMA / ALICE tests done and treat it like a mock cycle, so I'd be on all the meds for a FET. I think it's the Emma test that looks for chronic endomitritis which is common in recurrent miscarriages. I'm booked in with the ivf clinic in a couple of weeks to discuss and hope they agree to take on board my specialist's advice x

I meant to add, both the ivf doctor and my specialist agree that it was something to do with implantation going wrong and the fact I bled a lot indicates the embryo struggled to implant properly. I'm already on immune support for aggressive nk cells and they both feel like there's no issue with that protocol, so it is pointing to implantation issues for me, so the receptivity test makes sense x

@MabelG Thanks, I'll see what I can get

@VenusStarr I don't think my clinic offers EMMA / ALICA / ERA unfortunately. They always seem not particularly bothered that we have successive BFNs if I'm perfectly honest....

@2mumlife so sorry you have been through this but also wanted to thank you for sharing with us.

I'm worried I'm going to have a chemical. I'm 14 days past retrieval and 9 days past transfer and only getting a faint line on the tests the clinic gave me, I thought they would be much stronger lines by now? I also feel no symptoms of pregnancy, I was pregnant once before about 3 years ago but it ended in miscarriage, so feel like I should feel different? My clinic don't offer blood tests so I guess I just have to sit and wait this out or buy the Clear Blue or FRER tests?

2mumlife · 28/06/2021 08:43

@Tara8 So sorry to hear you're going through this. At 9dpt I was getting faint lines of FRER and even possibly a very faint line on clear blue. I'd suggest trying to test every 48-72 hours to see whats happening with your lines, but I still got a very faint FRER 12dpt when my beta hcg was 4 the next morning. When I went for my repeat bloods they asked if I had any symptoms, which I didnt other than being tired, and I felt a bit like they weren't saying then that it wasn't a great sign.

Unfortunately sounds like you're going to have to wait it out. Fingers crossed for you

Thank you for replying @2mumlife
I've attached a photo of the test this morning, looks faint doesn't it but I've never used these types of tests before.

Wishing you all the best with your next steps x

2mumlife · 28/06/2021 10:48

@Tara8 Its definitely visible. I've not used those kinds of tests before so not much experience. Your main thing will just be to see if you get line progression or not, so use the same brand and start testing 48-72 hours apart.

I'd been concerned I had no line progression before my blood beta and was right that my hcg was low. That was my frist ever positive, but I still had that gut knowledge something wasn't right, so I think if you're feeling that then just be cautious until you can find out one way or another whats going on.

@Tara8 that line looks ok for 9dp5dt on a clinic test to me (I've done many in the past). Try a FRER

Tara8 · 29/06/2021 06:45

I didn't want to do this but I was up early so ended up testing again this morning, 24 hours after last one. I think it looks a bit darker this morning but still not a very strong line?

Chemical or keep some hope?
MabelG · 29/06/2021 08:27

@Tara8 I think the line looks good. The clinic tests aren't anywhere near as sensitive as FRER, plus you are only 10 days post transfer!
