I am accepted for nhs funded IVF which I am very happy about but I didn’t know I have to pay for my prescriptions , I have no problem doing that it’s just that I didn’t know , I though it was all for free once you get accepted for NHS ivf . Does anyone know how much I am looking to spend on my medicine ? I have just picked up norethisterone from pharmacy and paid for that myself . Am I paying because I work ? It’s a bit unexpected for me as I didn’t know and now I’m worrying about how much it’s all going to cost , all the other medicines I’ll need . Any help appreciated Smile

Hi 👋🏻 yeah I've paid too because we both work. It's just normal prescription charges £9.35. I was over the moon with that thi after seeing people paying £1500 privately. U pay the charge for each item (no matter whether u get 1 box or 10). Didn't cost much at all and I had to have a few extra prescriptions because I needed to DR and stim longer than expected. Think I paid for maybe 6 all in all so wasn't bad xx

You may have to pay for oral medication you pick up on prescription (like you would for any other health condition) but any injections you should get for free as they are part of the procedure. I have received all my medication for free, it was delivered to me. IVF meds can be around £500-1000 if you get them privately.

Wow thank you for your replies ladies Star I’m so glad you told me this ! And yes I paid 9.35 too for 2 packs of medicine so now I know !!! I was panicking thinking I have to pay 1000s of pounds for injections but you both cleared it up for me now and I’m very thankful !!!

@Sadgirl28 bless u! I must say I did pay for all injections. Must be different in different hospitals. But it was still only £9.35 for 3 weeks worth of buserelin, same for 13 days of meriofert, same trigger shot and same for 14 days of pessaries. Like I say I ended up DR and stims longer so paid for another 2 on top. X

My clinic told me to get a prepayment certificate, which made it cheaper, I already happened to have one anyway because of the volume of eczema and asthma medication I was on.
