IVF Poor egg quality?

Hi,

First cycle of IVF. Throughout my scans I responded well to medication and had 12 follicles. Day of egg retrieval only 5 contained an egg. 2 fertilised, 2 made it to day 3 but didn't change by day 5. We did IMSI. Dr says to increase meds and use Menopur as this may increase the number of eggs.

When last tested my AMH is 28.1.

Due to low egg retrieval, and that neither made it to day 5, I'm worried my egg quality is poor. Have been told supplements can be taken but do they really work? Can you improve egg quality?

I just don't want this to be the end already 😕 x

@Tara8 Have you tried with a higher quality test brand? Will they do a blood test as well?

Morning @IOTO
I did buy some more tests, still showing as positive but hard to know if the line is getting stronger now as not comparing like for like?! I need to call the clinic today again to update them, I say call but I usually have to text them as they're too busy to talk!

@Tara8 - that's super news!! The lines look quiet dark to me! How many days are you past transfer?
Also yours was 2AA right? So it could be that you had a late implantation

@2mumlife - I was in a similar situation, I was given gonal f for only 8 days and was asked to take the trigger inspite of most my follicles in the range of 12mm!

Surprisingly they got 20 eggs and out of them 16 were mature but none of them grew properly and got arrested apart from one which they froze.

I had one round done previously (6 months ago) where all my eggs were growing slowly but atleast they didn't stop.

This makes me think that does the embryo quality gets impacted if they are triggered when follicles are still small

Thanks @Rj1988 it's not really sinking in yet and still don't want to get my hopes up as I've been here before. I'm now 11 days past transfer. Yes it was one 2AA blastocyst.

Not sure what I'm supposed to do now? The clinic are too busy to talk so I had to text them (between 8am and 4pm only) but I haven't had a response? I guess I ring my GP at some point to notify them?

Do you have any idea when your transfer will be?

@Tara8 - love the fact it says 2-3 weeks. I am sure clearblue is way better and more accurate than the cheapie sticks they give you.

You should book your appointment with GP straight away. I think the earliest they will see you is at 12 weeks but if you did you IVF at nhs then they should call you for a scan at 8 weeks..

I can understand you must be really nervous bec of your past experience but just try your best to be positive.

I think they will do my transfer around August! Still more than a month away

Rj1988 · 30/06/2021 18:44

@Tara8 - by the way did you get implantation spotting or bleeding too?

Tara8 · 30/06/2021 21:04

@Rj1988 August isn't too far away and will come around quickly I'm sure. In the mean time just take care of yourself and give yourself plenty of treats! Hopefully you'll be able to keep us posted with how you get on! Will be keeping everything crossed for you.

I didn't have any spotting or bleeding, this time or last time. I remember last time having really bad cramps and thinking my period was coming but so far nothing this time around.

The clinic text me back and I have a scan on 27 July...if I make it to then!

Rj1988 · 30/06/2021 22:46

@Tara8 thank you so much Tara! Keeping my fingers crossed for you too! They say the first 40-50 days is the most important so take care and surround yourself to all the good vibes and everything will go smooth

@Tara8 Awh congratulations 😊, it's so reassuring to hear success stories. Keep us posted x
