Traumatic egg collection + hematosalpinx

Hi, I had a traumatic egg collection one month ago and still have mild residual pain over the left ovary. I just had an MRI which was to rule out endometriosis and unfortunately came back with endometriosis and adenomyosis but also a left sided hematosalpinx.

I am really worried and distressed thinking I might need the tube removing. My consultant has said it might resolve.. but it’s already been one month. Has anyone had this or any advice. I’m not in a good place with all of this as also just found out I need to down Reg for 3 months too before transfer. Feeling very, very anxious and low x

Hi @Moonstarsun I don't have any personal experience with this but just wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear all of this is happening Thanks it's understandable that you're feeling anxious and low, have you been able to talk to a fertility counsellor at your clinic? If not can you book an appointment, this is an awful lot to experience all at once.

I'm on my third FET right now and I've had such bad anxiety which is so unlike me and I think part of the reason for it is because I feel like my situation is out of my control and there is so much uncertainty. From your account it sounds like this could be driving how you feel as well?

Do you feel that booking another appointment with your specialist might be helpful? To discuss your worries and see if they can give you any more information.

Is the long down regulation for the endometriosis? I'm in the Reddit infertility forum and there is loads of information on there about IVF with endometriosis. It's mostly people in the USA and they are so clued up on everything. You might want to come across and have a read of some of the information in the wiki.

Thank you I will have a look. I’m seeing my consultant tomorrow so will go through all of this with him. It just seems as if things are going from bad to worse. I’m so scared I’m going to lose my left ovary. Complications are supposed to be rare so I’m mad this has happened. I already booked an appointment with the counsellor for next week but all I need is for the clinic to be more on top of my care actually. I speak to my friends about the IVF and generally I’m ok.. it’s just all this shit on top of other co-morbidities which are bad enough already x thanks for your reply x

Bless you @Moonstarsun Thanks I think most people go into IVF optimistic that this will be the thing that works and you just don't expect these kind of things to happen. I'm now on my third issue that none of the doctors have ever seen before (progesterone hypersensitivity, 0.00% good bacteria in my uterus and oestrogen levels 10 times higher than they should be in my FET). It's so upsetting and frustrating when these unexpected things arise.

It's great that you're speaking to your specialist tomorrow, can you write down a list of questions that you have, so you get the most from the appointment, I find this really helpful. It's also really good that you're booked in with the counsellor. I really hope this all gets sorted for you ASAP.

You've mentioned losing an ovary, has anyone mentioned about taking out the ovary? As far as I'm aware if there is a tube issue they leave the ovary, there's a few girls on here that have lost both tubes because of ectopics and they've been successful with IVF. Obviously the hope is that you won't need anything removing since your specialist had mentioned that it hopefully will resolve itself. It might be worth you bringing up this concern so they can hopefully put your mind at rest.

Thanks @Gardenlady543 no the tube thing is just what I’ve read and from a medic I know who’s had patients who’ve lost tubes because of the same. I’m just shocked that this has happened to me because the other egg collections were all fine. My partner is also getting really upset and angry which I don’t find helpful as I don’t know what I can do to make it better. I’m also speaking to my work supervisor tomorrow and going to try and take a couple of weeks off. I don’t think we’ll be doing any more egg collections after this if these banked rounds don’t work. I can’t risk any more injuries to my body xx

@Gardenlady543 I just wanted to update you. So I panicked last night and let my mind run away with itself. I shouldn’t have done that. I had the MRI with another consultant for ?endometriosis through my health insurance and when he went through the scan with me he didn’t really mention the haematosalpinx… I then had a tel appointment with my fertility consultant a few days later and he couldn’t open the scan so I read out the notes I’d taken from the other consultant. We mainly discussed the down Reg during the call. We arranged for me to have a scan this morning as I was having the Prostrep inj and he spent a lot of time with me going over the scan and plan going forward. He scanned me and couldn’t see a haematosalpinx on US so doesn’t think I have one. He has reassured me that my left ovary will settle. I have a plan and feel better and more comfortable with everything again. I’ve just had the prostrap Injection so I’m officially in menopause. Thanks for replying to me. I was in a bit of a silly state yesterday xxx

Ah bless you @Moonstarsun sounds like you've had some good developments! Sorry I missed the message before this. It's not helpful for your partner to be getting worked up! Also I think the time off work is a good idea, make sure you plan to do some nice things during it!
