Failed fresh - what next?

Hello!

I just had a failed fresh transfer (untested 4AA). This was my only good quality blast from a mild IVF cycle (two frozen average/poor day 6s). Not even a hint of a positive. Is this likely to be bad luck at this stage or is it worth getting tests done to see if there is anything else going on? I’m going to do another cycle and hoping for better results.

Any failed fresh followed by successful transfer stories would be much appreciated!

Failed fresh 5AA transfer followed by successful FET 3 months later of 5BA. I was told before I stated that on average it takes 3 transfers for success so we were lucky on our 2nd. Currently trying for number 2 and had one FET which we had a positive but told to expect a miscarriage at our 7 week viability scan so success rate of 1/3 transfers so far. All the best for future success.

Totally normal. It's a case of trying to find one good egg so keep going! My fourth transfer was the lucky one (embryos 6&7). See if they can empirically prescribe blood thinners, steroid and aspirin.

As others have said it's totally normally and on average takes 3 cycles. I had success on transfer 4 which was embryos 4&5

What grade are your frozen ones? One of my twins is a day 6 and they have just as good a chance of success as a day 5 these days

Definitely normal, as PP have said. Our first fresh transfer (double transfer) was a BFN with no frosties. Our second cycle (following some protocol and lifestyle changes) was a fresh transfer of 2 5AA blasts and resulted in our beautiful twins. We also got 2 frosties, a 4AA and a 4AB. The FET of the 4AA failed but I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant with the 4AB. And this after being given a chance of success of 15% given my age at the time (40).
Good luck OP!

@Noideamuma Good to have that confirmed. On a lot of the Facebook, etc. groups I’m on, a lot of women seem to have first time success, so I start questioning/worrying. Very sorry for your miscarriage. Wishing you success for baby no2.

@FingersXssd83 thanks and congrats. Did you ask your clinic to prescribe those specifically? Did you get any tests done before they were prescribed?

@ivfgottwins thanks and congrats on your twins. My day 6s are 5bc and 4cc. Would probably ask for them to be transferred at the same time when I get them transferred. My clinic described them as good embryos.

@SamoyedFan123 that’s amazing! Congrats. So good to hear that you have had so much success following the first failed fresh. What lifestyle changes did you make prior to your second cycle?

@Mouseorchestra7 thanks 😊 we had 3 months between the two cycles and privacy the biggest changes I made during this time were as follows:

Started taking a high dose of ubiquinol
I had a massively stressful job that I hated, so I reduced this to past time hours and off loaded some responsibilities so that I could bring my stress levels down (appreciate this might not be possible for everyone)
Regular fertility yoga and acupuncture with an IVF specialist
Upped my protein intake (I'm a vegetarian and it was a bit low)
Daily maca and spirulina drinks
Dropped 4 points off my BMI

We also made changes to my IVF drugs, and added testosterone gel for a month before EC.
