We are dealing with MFI but I have a massive sweet tooth which can't be helping and finding it hard to cut down, it's a vicious circle of feeling upset regarding the lack of pregnancy, eat something nice to feel better, then feel guilty and upset again.
As a result I've definitely seen the weight creep up since we started TTC.
Anyone in a similar boat? Anything that helped?x

I have zero willpower - I can easily eat a family size bag of giant buttons in one sitting 🙈 and don't get me started on cake!
I found the best way was to eat super super healthy Monday to Friday afternoon and then allow myself fri pm and the weekend to be a but (a lot!) naughty.

Hello,
We’re also dealing with MFI. In our case, my DH has to quit smoking, hugely drop drinking and no more hot baths. It’s harder to stay focused on doing healthy things myself now I know for certain the issues are at his end. I recommend pukka night time tea as a non caffeine but to me at least sweet tasting drink. I’ve found it good to look forward to in the evening, to make up for not having chocolate and a big glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I’m trying to not buy sweets apart from dark choc and to not have that everyday. It’s hard isn’t it? Good luck to you.

I was the same and managed to cut right down. I found intermittent fasting helped. So I only ate x3 meals a day with last meal at 7pm and breakfast at 10am. (I’m between rounds at the minute but will be back on this soon)

With my dinner I’d have a cup of tea and 2 squares of dark chocolate directly after eating and then that was me done. I found it easier than a constant battle all evening of resisting. I also was recommended a chocolate high protein breakfast by my nutritionist. It’s 20g milled flaxseed, 15g milled chia seed, 200g high protein full fat natural yoghurt topped with apple and berries and 8g of raw cacao powder. This helped as it felt like a chocolate fix while also getting 20g of protein in at breakfast. Good luck!

Thanks everyone!
I am in between cycles too which is also making it hard to motivate myself as I don't know when we can go again, these are all great suggestions xx

My faves for alternatives to really bad foods when only something sweet will do:
two squares of dark chocolate broken into pieces with nuts (in a bowl about the size of a gü jar);
unsweetened yoghurt with berries topped with a little granola (in a lowball glass);
grapes and red Leicester;
and chocolate snack a jacks (every other flavour is disgusting).

If I'm serious about losing a few pounds, I'll not eat until dinner but I'll look forward to having a big portion. (I realise some people would find this torture but I like to get the pain out of the way more quickly.)

I really sympathise @Roo45. I've gained over 1.5 stone since TTC. Just seems like an endless cycle of trying to be healthy for a couple of weeks then knowing you are out and comfort eating for the other couple of weeks. Also being in the house every evening due to Covid has not helped! However, all that said I do find that exercise helps a lot with my frame of mind and therefore food choices. I just need a kick to actually exercise

I've been trying to cut down on sugar due to PCOS. You definitely have my sympathies how hard is it.. Especially once its in your mind you shouldn't have it, you want it more (or that seems to be the case for me!) I haven't cut it out completely but have massively cut down. I personally see it that we are already having a rubbish time struggling Ttc why add to the sheer misery of a tiny little treat. Surely it's all about moderation? I then get so angry about how is this fair that we struggle and have to give everything up, compared to some people living much less healthy lifestyles... I don't mean that in a judgemental way... More of a jealous way probably!
But after that rant, just want to wish you luck. People that have replied sound like they are doing brilliantly! Keep going :)

I am the same, desperately trying to cut the sugar down for this round. I got my partner to remove all the chocolate and I bought the highest percentage dark chocolate. I find its so strong I don't eat half as much as I normally would, and the sugar content is much lower.

Thanks everyone! @emilou89 I feel exactly the same! 2 friends who are older than me conceived straight away and they are super healthy good diet always at the gym (pre covid) so I wondered if there was something in that but tbh you are right there are so many people with unhealthy lifestyles or with a high BMI that get pregnant quickly too! I know what you mean about it seeming unfair, and even giving up on all of this stuff is no guarantee of success?
@bumphope2020 so many people I have spoken to have gained weight during lockdown, I agree it really doesn't help! Xx
