Anyone with PCOS used Metformin????????

So I found out yesterday that I have "slight" PCOS.
My ovaries, egg count and quality are extremely healthy and I'm ovulating with regular periods.

However my weight is a major issue. I try so hard to loose it but fail. I will shift about a stone and then it stops and I start putting it back on.

I've been told this is a result of PCOS and have been prescribed Metformin to help with weight loss and could potentially help me fall pregnant as I have no other issues.

Has anyone used this before??
Has anyone managed to fall pregnant when using this? I have heard they can make you really poorly too?

I take metformin 1500mg so three times a day. I'm still not pregnant but they did regulate my periods and I also lost about 2 and half stone since starting them last March. The side effects for me was diarrhoea but it does settle down eventually!

I'm on 2000 mg metformin daily. It hasn't helped me with conceiving yet (been trying conceive for about 18 months, but I am almost 40 so it is statistically more likely an egg issue rather than a weight/ PCOS one for me). BUT it did really help regulate my periods and with weight loss, at least initially (eventually any weight loss will plateau unless you make dietary changes too eg. lower carbs/sugar).

Slowly over a 10 year period I've lost 10 stone and kept it off with the help of metformin and dietary changes. You will likely have to put up with loose stools for a while, although adding Myo -inositol helped me with this personally (and boosted the effects of the Metformin).

Hi @Lauren2409

I'm surprised they recommend Metformin...

Myo-insotil is an equivalent (natural) alternative to Metformin without the side effects and is generally recommended now days over Metformin for women with PCOS by Specialists.
