Ubiquinol during FET / 2WW

Hi all, I’ve read over various threads on Ubiquinol, but haven’t found anything specific on taking it during FET & 2WW.

I’ve recently had a BFN and have one embryo left. If this fails, I can afford a couple more rounds, but am 42, so need to improve egg quality. I’m thinking of taking Ubiquinol now as it takes 6-12 weeks to really see benefit from it. It’s expensive and taking it for an FET which could be BFP this time might just be a waste of money.

My questions are, is there any ‘harm’ as such to taking Ubiquinol during FET and specifically 2WW? Can it help implantation too, or is it purely cell building for eggs?

Hello. I don’t know for definite but I was told to stop after transfer by my consultant, although wasn’t given an explanation as to why.

Unfortunately from what I've read there doesn't seem to be much scientific data either way. The only thing I've found helpful discussing it is this - itstartswiththeegg.com/faq/supplement-timing . Scroll down, but basically she seems to suggest that continuing to take it in the 2ww after transfer shouldn't do any harm - as people doing iui/trying naturally typically keep taking it till a positive pregnancy test.

Hi OP, sorry to hear about your BFN. The advice is generally to stop taking it after transfer and during pregnancy, not because ubiquinol in itself is harmful, but because it's not a controlled medicine and is pretty unregulated so it's impossible to know for sure just what is in the capsules - there are lots of unscrupulous Internet sellers around. It won't aid implantation as it works by increasing the mitochondrial energy stores within developing eggs, making them more likely to survive the days between fertilisation and connection to the mother's blood supply. Personally I wouldn't take it after transfer and it won't help your frozen embie now, but if you don't have success with this one I would definitely start it ready for another fresh egg collection. Try to give yourself 2 to 3 months on it. Testosterone /DHEA is something else you could try alongside it to improve egg quality, but do talk to your clinic about this first. Good luck xxx

Thanks everyone, I’ll leave it for now, but definitely start if my last FET fails. Not sure I’ll have time to build up 2-3 months intake as I’ll need to cycle again asap given my age, but I’ll try whatever may help anyway.
