Hycosy/Hyfosy| infertility journey

Hi all,
I've just started my infertility journey and feeling anxious. Started with blood tests, All came out normal except my FSH which was 8.57IU/L which apparently is normal but a little high for my age (32). Just had my Hyfosy scan which was all fine except the consultant says my AFC was on the low side to indicate there may be an issue with my Ovarian reserve. She did say, Typically women experience " super fertility" after the Hyfosy but based on the fact that the AFC is a bit low should I look into IVF straight away? Also Just paid for a private AMH test through Medichecks and waiting for it to arrive.

Hi @immanie what is your AFC (how many follicles did they count)?

Hi *@immanie* what is your AFC (how many follicles did they count)?
Hi @Gardenlady543 actually I wasn't told the quantity. I must admit, at that moment, I couldn't get over the " low " word I forgot to ask.

@immanie you’ll need to find out the number really, it can vary a bit between cycles but it indicates how many follicles may produce eggs if you had IVF.

@Gardenlady543 thanks, I'll call the clinic next week for this info

@immanie Hi there! I am also going through infertility assessment after TTC for 18 months. My bloods and transvaginal ultrasound has all come back normal and my partner's sperm analysis was all above average. I've been referred for a HyFoSy and am feeling quite anxious after reading lots of unpleasant experiences Confused I look forward to hearing how you go!

@idieh05
You'll be fine. I took some ibuprofen 30 minutes before the procedure. I would compare it to a similar process as a smear test. It was only uncomfortable when the nurse inserted the catheter, similar to a pinch. Once that's was in place, they passed the foam through my tubes. I felt a little pressure similar to a full bladder . Personally, i didn't experience pain, just discomfort.They talked me through the procedure. My Fallopian tubes were clear and it was all over in about 30 minutesSmile

Hi @immanie did you ever find out your AFC and AMH? Just wanted to say hi as I'm also 32 and have low AMH and low AFC. I'm going through IVF at the mo if you want to ask any questions Smile

immanie · 12/05/2021 12:24

@PPPPPP I have and both are very low. AMH 0.7pmol and AFC 6. May i ask what your readings were please and which clinic you're going with?

@immanie mine is 3.3pmol with AFC of 3. First of all, ignore the AMH, it isn't everything. What's more important is the AFC as that gives you an indicator of how many follicles, and likely eggs you'll get. On my baseline scan I had 3 follicles and I managed to get 8 eggs. Sadly that cycle didn't work out - likely chromosomal abnormalities which you can't account for, but I just wanted to let you know it's not all doom and gloom with low follicle count.

I'm with Create Fertility.

@PPPPPP - it's been quite the emotional rollercoaster but hearing people in a similar situation is helping with keeping hope alive. I've also shortlisted Create as the favourite in the UK but also looking at one in Spain. Please keep me posted. Hoping to start IVF over the next few months.
