Self-funded FET at Homerton - timescale?

Hello,

Does anyone know the sort of timescale for a self-funded FET at Homerton?

I had successful IVF on the NHS in 2019 and have a beautiful toddler now. We have two frozen embryos left at Homerton and I'm starting to think about trying for a second baby. We would now be self-funded due to previous success and I assume it's basically the same waiting time as if you were NHS funded (and quite rightly). But does anyone have an idea of timescale?

Our IVF took a year from the initial appointment, and 15 months by the time we could do FET. I would hope the timescale would be a bit less for FET as the embryos are already there and ready to go, but am also aware that there could be a huge backlog due to Covid!

I phoned and was told to ask my GP for a referral, with no further info offered, so just hoping someone might have been in the same situation. I remember how long the referral took last time...

Thanks! Xx

We self funded for IVF and FET. The waiting wasn't long (I can't remember how long), one of the FET was done during COVID once they re opened. You could actually just contacted the Homerton nurses and speak to them, I don't think you need to be re-referred as you still have embryos to transfer. Good luck

Thanks @Dojiejo - I've just dug out my notes and found the contact details for the nurses so hopefully they'll be able to advise. I think the number I called was just the general switchboard, hence the generic response.

Hello ladies, I am with Homerton too and my question is - how long FET takes? Do they fo medicated cycle in terms of preparing the body for transfer or do they do natural cycle when is your ovulation? Just trying to plan the next month due to Christmas holidays etc. Thank you!

My experience: once you receive your medication you start from your next period. Call nurses CD1, start estrogen CD2 and have a scan CD 8-10. Then if lining is OK get a date to start progesterone and have transfer five days later. For me, lining was OK so transfer was CD18.

Hope that helps

Many thanks for your reply 😊 I thought so that they will do a medicated cycle rather than completely natural. That really helped, I will plan my holidays accordingly!
