Ivf and work advice

So we're hoping to start our ivf in April... with the hormone injections starting about 9th/10th.... my plan is to tell my customers I'm having to have some time off due to a procedure and its going to be about 4/5 weeks before I can return to work... I'm just looking for some support that I'm doing the right thing... I know the hormones aren't guaranteed to make you feel like crap but it's being able to be available for any appointments at any time... I feel like I'd get stressed if the clinic rang and said we need you in for a scan tomorrow and I'm thinking 'o no, I need to cancel on so and so' and stressing myself out... having a baby is my first priority obviously but I'm the type of person that feels bad to have a day off... fortunately we can afford for me to do this. But I just want reassurance I guess. Nobody I know has been through this.

@Rdaisyleo if you feel this would reduce your stress then its worth it for your peace of mind. What do you do? Do you need to see customers face to face as I think this has an impact too. My experience was I have done a mix of taking leave from work and working from home for 3 weeks. I started down regulation on 20th Feb and continued to work normally for this time (I work in the NHS). I actually found being at work a distraction and I felt completely fine to work. Then due to covid once I started stims till after egg transfer I wanted to work from home to reduce the risk of catching covid and having my cycle cancelled. So am working approx 50% of hours I normally work (mainly due to needing to take leave in order to isolate). For me personally I find work a good distraction. But completely up to you how you feel would be best. Obviously there are scans and appointments but mainly over the last 2 weeks or so of treatment. So I have managed to move work around that and have had quite a bit of notice on when these will be. However the unexpected does happen, i.e. my stims were delayed by a week as my period was a week late! I would say go with what feels right for you. But have a plan of how to fill your time to distract yourself if your not working!!

So I'm a cleaner and have customers and I also clean some offices for a business. I'm just in 2 minds also because like you said you were delayed a week because of your period and if I tell people I'm having a procedure on such a date and will be back In 4 to 5 weeks and then it turns out I'm a week late or that not enough follicles mature and they postpone to the following month then how do I deal with sorting work out and what to say.... I'm panicking

@Rdaisyleo my manager and job share are both aware at work. But have told the rest of my team that I have a minor procedure and need to isolate due to covid. But said the dates are not certain as the hospitals are so busy at the moment procedures and appointments are being arranged at short notice depending on capacity. By the way I work in the NHS and this is true!! But I can understand that its definitely easier not to have to worry about rescheduling things. I am lucky as my job share is taking the slack and covering when I have had to rearrange. I'll definitely owe her something at the end of this!!

@donimo I'm going to say what you have said, to my customers. I'm pinching it Hahaha. I'm a worrier and over thinker so to have work off my mind is going to help me alot. If only I had a job share! Thankyou for helping me and I hope everything works for you xx
