Hi everyone! Hope you are all well. I am looking for some advice pointers here.

After a failed IVF I have been recommended a laparoscopy to see what could potentially keep me from falling pregnant but the NHS line is so long that I have decided to do it privately. I understand that with laparoscopy the experience and skill of a surgeon are very important. How do I start looking for a good surgeon to help me with a laparoscopy? The surgeon in my IVF clinic has only been operating for less than 2 years so I am a bit nervous.

Does anyone have any experience, advice or can recommend a resource to look for a place to do surgery?

You need to go to a BGSE accredited centre. Get the endo excised not lazered. Costs about £2.5k. You should be able to find a specialist centre near you.

I got my BFP after having my endo diagnosed and treated.

Good luck!

Seems odd to go straight to lap, have they done other checks 1st? Many fertility checks can be done without surgery x

Thanks, StormyC.
I was told that because I have had a history of suspected hydrosalpinx in the past the chance of infection is very high with HSG or Hycosy. So they recommended going straight to laparoscopy as a one-stop-shop to see what is happening.

Thats even scarier (i am not a doctor tho) but a lot can be seen from scan and basic tests that dont include surgery which has a higher risk of infection than anything and given the current climate with covid, honesty pls seek a 2nd opinion x

@Lisa12345678910 I was with Princess Royal in Orpington and the consultant there does a laparoscopy as standard for all fertility tests. I never really understood why and in hindsight I was gutted to have an 8 month wait before I could progress without anything.
But I do know he does them privately and that it’s his speciality so can give you his details if you want to PM me? Not sure where you are based

Thank you. I have been trying for a few years and have just hit the notorious 35. I now feel desperate enough to do anything. I am going to speak to someone else next week in Bristol and see what they say. I find the uncertainty of unexplained infertility quite difficult.

@FingersXssd83 Thank you for the link - I will check it out!

Thank you

Onsy Morris at The New Victoria Hospital (Kingston, surrey) is amazing. He done 1 laparoscopy on me and two on my sis. He’s an endo expert ! X
