Hey,

Due to start IVF and the clinic has sent me their price list and Access Fertility packages. Has anyone used an Access Fertility package? Is it worth doing and which did you go for? Pic attached of packages and clinics price list.

For what it's worth, we had our first appointment with a clinic last week and the fertility nurse said Access Fertility packages were really good value and a considerable discount on private costs!

strawberrysummer19 · 28/02/2021 19:24

It's a big yes in my opinion and I've heard nothing but good and positive reviews on access

We start with lwc in April using access

However as I'm 38-39 bracket we didn't qualify for the refund programme but we are still going with then for a 2 cycle ivf

I’m with access fertility, I have the 2 cycle multi cycle package- that means 2 fresh cycles and unlimited FETS until all the embryos are gone, the package ends with a live birth. Access have always been lovely when I’ve called them. I had a fresh cycle and a FET, I have been unsuccessful with these, I have 6 frosties which are being PGT-A tested right now (I’m paying extra for that), I will then be able to transfer each viable one in subsequent FETs and if they don’t work, I can still have another fresh cycle to get more embryos.

I would advise that you make an excel spreadsheet, put every cost down for paying the clinic directly and for the access package you’re looking at. When I did this I realised I would have spend more money on the package if I was successful with the fresh cycle, but if not then I save money with Access. It is a huge pressure off knowing I’m not paying my clinic £2000 each time I need a FET.

My biggest ivf regret is not doing Access from the start. We had one unsuccessful cycle at a clinic that we came to dislike, switched clinics and also discovered Access at the same time.

We went into ivf not fully aware of how unlikely it is to succeed first time. We learnt a lot from that first cycle.

Second cycle new clinic, we did Access 3 cycle 100% refund. I had one cycle and a fresh transfer and cross fingers all going well so far and I am 14 weeks pregnant. I don't at all regret going for the top package we could. We spent a lot of time considering whether to take a risk and save a bit by going for 70% or 50% refund. But ultimately we decided that we would rather risk have paid more than getting less back in the event that it was all unsuccessful. I view it as we committed that money to the best chance of the outcome we wanted - and as it happens we have so far been lucky that we seem to have got that. Overall, being with access made me feel a lot less stressed than I was for my first cycle. I had less fear around the egg collection, embryo transfer stages and even TWW and into early pregnancy when it was still very touch and go because I knew that if needed we had other chances.

Thank you everyone. Congrats @sazzt on your BFP...gives me hope!

Would you say do one of the 3 cycle refunds or go straight for the 2 years unlimited? Be Sod's law you pay for the unlimited and get BFP on first go but if you don't, you'll wish you paid for it.

@Crazydoglady123 might be worth asking your clinic what they would suggest? Mine recommended against unlimited as they said in reality it was unlikely that you'd fit in more than three full cycles and all embryo transfers within 2 years anyway.

Crazydoglady123 · 28/02/2021 20:31

@sazzt thank you. I wasn't sure if they'd recommend which but I will definitely ask them

We went for the 2 year unlimited package.
1 round of IVF. The fresh cycle failed but the following frozen round (from the same collection) worked. I'm pleased we did as we knew we had "unlimited" goes there didn't feel as much pressure as I imagine there would be knowing you only had a few attempts remaining. Having said that it's obviously cheaper to go with the other options and I know that people will then use the refund toward more rounds if necessary.
I did worry that we would feel we didn't get our moneys worth if it worked sooner rather than later but I honestly don't regret it and would do the same again in a heartbeat as I'm sitting here with my little one fast asleep.
Good luck.

Hi all,

Could anyone possibly share Access Fertility's T&C's, please?

The reason I am asking is that they could not provide us the T&C before we would have done the initial consultation and the initial screening at the clinic, and that's effectively already paying-out substantial sums of money, without even being able to know whether Access Fertility's T&C would suit us.

I have got Assured Fertility's T&C and they actually mention that if you have two miscarriages, then they kick-you out of the plan and don't refund the retail cost of any procedures already performed. Given my wife has a history of miscarriage, that's a no go for us. I wanted to check for the same clause in Access Fertility's T&C but they won't send us one without us having started the process already, and paid out some money (as mentioned above).

Many thanks,

Furmummy · 29/03/2021 18:38

I have done the 2 cycle icsi package and according to my clinic it has worked out cheaper. Just be aware though the drugs are not included and depending on what drugs they prescribe is large additional cost per cycle. My drugs cost 2k for this cycle x

Gardenlady543 · 29/03/2021 19:34

@nufchavq I am with access fertility, it’s not a refund package, it’s their 2 cycle package.

Under programme termination it says “the Participant has had two miscarriages in total (including inside and outside the Programme)”

nufchavq · 29/03/2021 19:47

Oh right, so there is a clear mention of miscarriages actually being a termination event. Very useful, thank you.

CycleGirl20 · 29/03/2021 21:10

Did they send their 35-37 price list OP?

Crazydoglady123 · 29/03/2021 22:08

I went with what @Gardenlady543 has, the multi cycle package which works out cheaper than the refund package but it's such good value for money considering it's two egg collection cycles and unlimited frozen cycles.

I too have gone with the 2 cycle unlimited transfer option.

Much cheaper doing it this way although like pp have said to beat in mind the drugs.

Mine have cost £1450 for this cycle.

Can I ask a question on that...say it's unsuccessful and I then go on to have a FET if I have eggs left over from cycle 1
I take it I wouldn't need half the amount of the drugs if I have frozen eggs from cycle 1? Does it work like that? Assuming I'll need some but not the stims?

Gardenlady543 · 31/03/2021 08:25

@strawberrysummer19 there are 3 ways to do a FET: Medicated with downregulation, Medicated without downregulation and natural. Certain clinics tend to have a preference, some will put everyone with regular cycles on natural protocols. My clinic puts everyone on medicated as they can control the timing of the transfer for when they’re open with availability. The natural cycle may not have any medication, the other 2 do, I get my meds for cheaper by getting a private prescription and buying the meds from Asda who sell them for cost price, I pay £150 for each FET cycle. Overall medications for FET are a lot cheaper than fresh cycles, expect to pay up to £300.

strawberrysummer19 · 01/04/2021 07:53

@Gardenlady543 thank you, that's very interesting
We had in our minds would be £1,450 each cycle ! But then that depends on if we have eggs left over I guess

Gardenlady543 · 01/04/2021 08:40

@strawberrysummer19 I’m generally FET cycles are a lot cheaper than fresh, especially the medications Smile

K8dferXdder · 06/02/2022 23:52

Hi all, reading your posts as I am considering Lister with Access Fertility. I can see there is an option to do 2 egg collections one after another at an additional cost. Has anyone taken this option? I sounds good to me to do embryo banking and then frozen transfers until it works 🧐 That way if I want a second child in the future, I will have embryos ready. What is your opinion on this?
I am not planning to do PGS but I may need immune treatment.
Have you taken any add-ons as part of your cycles and if so which ones worked well and you would recommend?
It will also be great to hear your success stories 😊

tulipsandsnow · 07/02/2022 00:30

@K8dferXdder can I ask where you are seeing the option to do 2 egg collections one after another at an additional cost?

K8dferXdder · 07/02/2022 08:57

Access Fertility sent me the leaflet by e-mail and there I saw it 🤨 they say: If you freeze all embryos without having a fresh transfer, an additional fee will apply. Hope you can see it at the bottom of the picture.

tulipsandsnow · 07/02/2022 13:27

@K8dferXdder, ah ok, yeah that's not back to back egg collections. That's the package we did and all it means is that you do an egg collection without a fresh transfer, but you then have to transfer every single embryo (via FETs) from the first EC before moving on to a second one :)

K8dferXdder · 07/02/2022 13:56

Oh I see what you mean, thanks for clarifying it for me. I thought I can do 2 ECs and then start putting frozen embryos but seems it doesn’t work that way. I was hoping I can have some embryos for future use but anyway, let’s get one child first and will think about another one later :)

K8dferXdder · 07/02/2022 19:40

Hi all, can I please ask those of you who used Access Fertility, what happens if I’ve pre-paid 2 cycles package but one of the cycles have to be abandoned if the stimulation didn’t work. Will I get any refund or be entitled for another cycle (if I pay for drugs, blood tests, scans etc)?

tulipsandsnow · 07/02/2022 19:54

@K8dferXdder they told me that I get one abandoned cycle no charge, after that it is charged (whatever the true cost was from clinic up until point of cancellation)
