Healthy lifestyle for IVF/infertility thread?

Would anyone be interested in a general "healthy living" thread for IVF/infertility?

I've just had my second BFN in a row after an FET (also had an unsuccessful transfer in January), but I have a DD from a previous FET from the same egg collection so I know IVF can work for me.

We'll be looking to start another fresh cycle as soon as possible but I want to try and get me and DH eating better (we tend towards too much red meat and terrible comfort eating...) and I want to start doing some exercise, not least to manage my stress and anxiety levels. We could both do with losing some weight but right now the main focus is going to be on improving nutrition and activity levels. Having a bit of control over something will help me stay calm whilst I wait and hopefully help support the next cycle.

I also have terrible thrush from the Cyclogest Blush which I need to get under control.

Anyone else looking to make any lifestyle adjustments to help support IVF/TTC?

@seven201 sorry to hear your news and about the BFN. Hope c25k goes well; I am doing it too and am currently on week 4.

I am trying gluten and dairy free as I read these cause inflammation in the body.

Gosh, @seven201, you poor poor thing - you've really been through it. That's so desperately sad about your BIL - I can't even imagine what your family is going through. Wishing your sister and her children all the comfort, healing and peace in the world.

Please don't feel guilty about your sadness about the BFN though. That's a loss for you too in a different way and you are absolutely entitled to grieve for it. It's such a blow after all the hope and expectation and sheer bloody work in building up to ET. Do you have more frosties?

Starting c25k sounds like a great distraction and something really constructive to focus on - I bet it'll do wonders for stress management too.

@greendress789 thank you for the info. I can't decide if I should try that.

@FabricPigeon thank you for your kind words. I haven't started the couch 25k yet Blush. Been too busy being miserable! Need to pull myself together again now I've eaten all the smarties that I could find in the house.

@seven201 I fall off the wagon quite regularly 😬 I am crap at sticking to it but I think if I'm trying most of the time then that must be better than none of the time?!

Am now running twice a week following the couch 2 5k app. On week 5 now.

@greendress789 running twice a week is good!

Doing it most of the time is definitely better than not doing it at all!

I asked a nurse at my clinic if I should cut out diary and wheat and she said that was up to me. She said I could see a nutritionist... I think I have some kind of implantation problem. Think I'm going to have a ERA (where they biopsy your uterus at the time you would have had a transfer) to see if they can find any problems that way. I do have 5 embryos in the freezer and don't want to waste any more.

@seven201 have you had your immunes tested?

seven201 · 09/03/2021 20:33

@greendress789 I've had a thrombophila blood test but not all of the tests as I think there are loads. I think I might ask about it again though.
