Hello!! We have been trying for a baby for 11 years and I have pcos, hubby is more or less fine and I had a hycosy test before Christmas which showed everything was fine, had my follow up appointment this morning to discuss what next and they have said that ICSI is the next step for us.
I was wondering if anyone has been thru it or is going thru it at the moment and what to expect etc? ❤️

Hello! ICSI is normally recommended if there's an issue with sperm, is there any reason they've recommended it?
The timeline will depend on your clinic but generally you'll have to discuss and sign a few forms regarding the procedure and what you'd want to do with spare embryos if you get any, then look at starting IVF!
There are different protocols ranging from a few days of medication to 5-6 weeks of medication, usually with PCOS shorter regimes (2 weeks generally) are recommended, then your eggs will be collected and in ICSI sperm is injected directly into the egg.
I had my first cycle a few months ago, wasn't successful unfortunately it's a lot to get round but you will get used to it all quickly!
Good luck xxx

*the meds are to stimulate your body to produce the eggs, usually an injection that goes into the skin. Some women get side effects but not everyone, headaches hot flushes hormonal

@Roo45 thank you!! They have said just because it's been such a while that we have been trying and I'm 37 now that it would be the best option. My husband has done a number of samples over the years and while most of them are fine there was a few with slight mobility issues so she said it would just be best to do this. They have said there is a waiting list of around 8 months but as I stopped the fertility drugs in October she's back dating it to then which is quite good news.
Oh I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. How were the medications for you? Xx

I had headaches and fatigue in the first few weeks (I was on a long protocol with 5 weeks of drugs) but after that it settled, it wasn't bad enough to stop me working etc. I was stressed and emotional throughout, I'm not sure if that was the meds or just the process (I'm quite an anxious person naturally and found it hard to distract myself in lockdown).
Every woman is different! Xx

Hi I had a failed IVF at ARGC in 2017. Thinking of getting treatments but not sure if I should start ICSI and how much it costs?

There is no benefit for you from ICSI if your partners sperm are normal. The only benefit is the clinics in terms of financial gain. If a recent sperm analysis is normal don't waste your money 😊
