DHEA and cycle length

Hi. Wondered if anyone can share experience of changes to cycle length following taking DHEA. I started taking 75 in December following a mc and ahead of ivf next month. I'm normally 24 days, first 2 cycles on DHEA were 26 and this seemed good to me. Last month I ovulated on day 8 and ended up with an 18 day cycle, I'm now on day 5 and feel I'm gearing up to ovulate again. I know I have very low amh so is this just a sign of things getting worse already or could it be the DHEA? I have an appointment to arrange me treatment plan next week so I can ask them then but any other experiences would be good to hear.

I don't have any experience of taking DHEA, but just thought I'd post to check you're taking it under the guidance of your clinic? It is a hormone not a supplement and can interfere negatively with your cycle if not taken appropriately and monitored. There are a lot of myths out there about it and the evidence for it is not conclusive in any case, but if you are taking it, your clinic needs to be aware. Hope someone else comes along to answer your question soon.

I find the opposite that it has lengthened my cycle by about a week so I’ve gone from standard 29-30 day cycle to nearer 40. I am ovulating a week later. I asked my clinic and they said a longer cycle is a side effect so it could be worth ringing your clinic and asking if a shorter cycle is a possible side effect too

Agree with PP it shouldn’t be taken without supervision

Thanks for your reply. Yes my clinic advised me to take it, they said normally they'd monitor at 3 months and I'll be going in for EC at that point anyway so we can check levels and see whether it's done anything and worth continuing if this round doesn't work. He seemed to think that 3 months wouldn't do any harm and might work so was worth trying. I've had very few side effects and what I've had has been really mild but I know that's not the case for everyone. It may well be unrelated and just another sign of the low amh.

Thanks. Yeah that's what happened to me at first which I was really pleased about as I was getting closer to what the clinic wanted to see. I'm going in on Wednesday so I'll ask then.
