Good evening

I had EC yesterday and started cyclogest progesterone last night and again this morning and evening, each time I have lay down for 30 - 45 mins but still getting a white discharge (quite a bit TMI) has anyone else had this experience?

You will still get some of the waxy coating coming out but it shouldn’t be loads. Are you definitely pushing it far enough in?

Nlm77 · 21/01/2021 20:53

I’m pushing it up the front and my fingers length, similar to where I’d put a non applicator tampon. Maybe when I’m saying lots I’m exaggerating, but it’s white and noticeable on my underwear 🤔

@Nlm77I had to buy just some cheap underwear and wore sanitary towels as I saw loads of posts about ruining your underwear haha so yeah that’s my advice I pretty much wore a sanitary towel for like a month haha but does depend on how long you are on it for x

Normal ... they are dreadful make a right mess

Roo45 · 21/01/2021 22:34

I had this too! It's quite normal to have quite a bit of white discharge. Agree with the above and wore pads daily!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/01/2021 22:50

Agree with pp, it's completely normal to get some oily/waxy mess in your underwear afterwards in my experience (even if you lie down for at least 30 mins) - I've found you need to at least wear a panty liner (a pad might be better) but it can still occasionally leak through and ruin undies.

The only way to avoid the discharge is to use them rectally, so it might be worth trying them that way if your clinic says its okay to do so? (I think some clinics prefer cyclogest is used vaginally but others say it can be used either way).

Thank you ladies, I don’t mind about the underwear being ruined, it’s more the panic I’ve not absorbed enough 😳 panty liners are a great idea.

I haven't started using the pessaries yet but my clinic told me after an hour your body will have absorbed all it needs too, hope that helps reassure you abit

ArtfulScreamer · 22/01/2021 20:41

Yes the discharge with these is quite common. I found them less messy with back door insertion which I had to swap to as they were also causing irritation and thrush like symptoms when used vaginally.

MF1981 · 25/01/2021 16:23

Yes! They're so messy! I use liners but it seems to melt through and leave a sticky residue on my underwear. Really unpleasant!

Roo45 · 25/01/2021 21:56

@MF1981 I tried panty liners initially but the same thing happened I ended up throwing underwear away :(

TaVeryMuchLove · 25/01/2021 23:12

Stick em up the back door. No mess and 100% absorption.

IslandStars · 26/01/2021 10:41

Can they cause constipation if using back door method?

I'm really stuck on what to do, i suffer from IBS, so back door might not be ideal, but i also get thrush from time to time so front entry not great either if they cause irritation :-(

TaVeryMuchLove · 26/01/2021 11:01

I think it’s a six of one, half a dozen of the other kind of thing. Inevitably, there’s down sides with both. I had 4 rounds of IVF and after getting hung up on the having to lie down and then deal with the mess during the first round, I switched to rectally for the other 3 and, for me, it was much better. Didn’t have to give it a second thought. You ha e to do what’s right for you though. My clinic said I could always alternate from day to day. Might be better for you?

MF1981 · 26/01/2021 11:05

Has anyone else found the cyclogest (taken either way) gives them a bit of an upset tummy/nausea and tiredness? I feel hungover today and have come back to bed. Good job I can furlough. I’m also feeling really anxious and irrational 🙈

IslandStars · 26/01/2021 11:12

@TaVeryMuchLove Thank you, i think this is going to be the worst part medication-wise for me, i think whatever i do will be an issue. Alternating sounds like it could be a good approach, thanks.
