Thin lining

Wondering if anyone on here wants to swap stories on their experience with thin endometrial lining?

I did a freeze all cycle in May and was lucky to get 4 blasts frozen.

FET 1 - medicated, lining got to 7.3mm on CD11, ended in ectopic
FET 2 - medicated, lining only got to 6.7mm by CD18 so cycle abandoned
FET 3 - natural, lining only got to 5.4mm by ovulation so cycle abandoned

I've got a consultant appointment tomorrow to discuss next steps.

So far I've tried Vit E, l-arginine, pomegranate, beetroot, extra exercise, less exercise etc etc.

As far as I can tell options are going to be:
a) Another medicated FET with a shed load more oestrogen from the start
b) FET with low dose stims
c) Tamoxifen at the start of the cycle

Would love to hear from anyone going through similar, has had success, or experience of the above options! It's a frustrating issue to have with 3 blasts waiting in the freezer... thanks to anyone who has some thoughts on this! X

I have thin lining and have tried countless protocols to thicken it over the years. The only thing that seems to work for me is stims (Gonal F 200 ui) as it makes my body produce more of its own oestrogen (I seem to have trouble absorbing the synthetic form). I believe my thin lining was originally caused by a copper IUD (I had a bit of scarring removed 3 years ago but suce then no new scarring and my lining remains thin so I think it was just permanently damaged by the IUD). Lining issues are a real pain as if it very difficult to resolve but once you find the cause, you can usually find a remedy (viagra for poor blood flow or stims for bad oestrogen absorption for ex).

@Gardenlady543 my lining really varies from cycle to cycle. Some cycles it has taken me 8 days to get to 8mm and others 13 days (on the same dose of Gonal F). As time goes by I believe less and less in all the supplements as I think the meds are what really makes a difference. It will be interesting to get the ERA results back though amd find out what is going on.

@BewilderedBee as I get stims to thicken my lining, my oestrogen levels have gone up to 10-15000 by trigger day. Not ideal for endometrial receptivity but it’s the only way I can thicken my lining enough...

Gardenlady543 · 03/04/2021 19:09

Thanks @Tarsette it’s good to know there are options out there with stims, if I went with this then I’d be keen to collect some more eggs at the same time, I have a good amount but I’d like more than 1 child and I have no idea how many attempts it will take to even get one. My only worry is that my fresh cycle was unsuccessful as well. I remember the clinic mentioning my lining was good in it but I had no idea about lining issues back then so have no idea what the measurements were.

I’m a bit gutted that the supplements and diet don’t seem to have much of an impact, basically there’s no chance for me conceiving naturally inbetween cycles or in the future. Thank God I was born when I was though with IVF around, 50 years ago and I’d have no chance.

Hey @HNewLeaf, thanks for the message.
Yes I did lots of reading about tamoxifen and it was on my list to try! In the end we tried higher doses of oestrogen + enoxaparin SC. My lining only got to 7mm but we seem to have struck some luck as the embryo decided to stick around. Early days but keeping everything crossed. Best of luck with your cycle xx

Hi ladies I know this post is old but just after some advice,

Run down of history
Came of contraceptive patch 2017
Got pregnant straight away - early miscarriage
Very light irregular periods

Diagnosed with pcos 2018
Another early miscarriage 2018
Next cycle pregnant - saw heartbeat and twins viable pregnancy confirmed MMC 10 weeks (stopped growing at 6) 2018
Had D&C - chromosomes normal 2019
Ashermans diagnosed a year later 2020
Surgery done
THIN LINING - current issue
I have been on HRT and managed to get lining 6.9
Month after early miscarriage
Started IVF FET (yet to do transfer ) 18 embryos frozen
Several C/P in between all of this
All bloods ‘normal range’
Just done another round of HRT lining 6.1mm CD11 -CD19 lining 6mm (at best) no ovulation

I am completely at my whits end with everything at the moment , I’m convinced my MC are all to do with my lining and poss PCOS I really believe that it will never get above 7mm so at the moment I don’t even think transfer is an option , has anyone had any success stories natural or IVF with a lining less that

HopingForRainbow2021 · 24/10/2021 22:17

@Kitkat08 I just found this thread too, as I am having similar problems in terms of light periods and thin lining.
Brief history:
Miscarriage after natural conception Nov 2020
IVF Feb 21 - lining didn't make 7mm but they transferred anyway - BFN
IVF Apr 21 - No ET due to degenerating endometrium
FET June 21 - lining made 7.5mm - early miscarriage
FET Oct 21 - cycle abandoned as lining got to 6.7 then shrunk to 5.1 on next scan

At my wits end too with this - just don't know where to go from here. I have read success stories with lining < 7mm, so trying to stay hopeful but it is so hard. I'm also keen to hear success stories and advice ti improve endomitrium x

Kitkat08 · 25/10/2021 21:01

@HopingForRainbow2021

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this too , we seem to be in a similar position ,

I keep avoiding booking my FET as I know ultimately it will either end in BFN or if i do get BFP it will just turn into another CP :(

Have you ever had a diagnosis ?

My clinics and there have been many , private and NHS all seem to be very sceptical about my lining been the issue for my miscarriages !

My latest even said he thinks my lining is a "red herring " and that it's more likely due to chromosome abnormalities!!
I'm really struggling to believe this theory as everything i have wrong are all symptoms of thin endometrium! I have mild pcos and all bloods are normal , I even had testing done on my twin pregnancy loss and that came back normal , I was diagnosed with ashermans after D&C with that pregnancy , but since all adhesions have been removed and repeat hysteroscopy shows they never returned ,

I do seem to respond better with HRT >6mm at best so far but

Kitkat08 · 25/10/2021 21:04

Also have you ever tried anything natural ?

L-Agranine
Vit E
Baby aspirin
Raspberry leaf tea
Accupuncture
Dark leafy greens
Pomegranate juice

There all more of a natural approach I was advised , sadly none of these worked for me personally as of yet but worth asking your consultant or looking into a little more x

BewilderedBee · 30/11/2021 22:58

Hi all, I haven't been back to this post for a long time. How is everyone getting on?

I have since had a FET where my lining got to 6mm and sadly we had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. I've done a fresh since and my lining was no better. That ended up in a big fat negative.

Doing another FET now in December. I'm on two patches plus 6 tablets of progynova each day.

My old clinic told me I was on maximum dose before which clearly wasn't the case. They only ever put me on one patch plus 6 tablets of progynova per day.

Anyone been increased from one patch to two and seen a good increase in thickness? Looking for some positive stories :)

Rubyroo1984 · 27/07/2022 12:16

Hi ladies! I know this thread is old but just wondered who had success with thin linings and which clinics you were at?

Mancbear88 · 01/08/2022 18:01

@Rubyroo1984 ive had semi success. I’ve got pregnant 4 times from 5 transfers but lost at 5-13 weeks. Despite thin lining my actual issues staying pregnant seem to be unrelated.
Im at St Mary’s, they give me a lot of oestrogen seems to get it to increase eventually!

BewilderedBee · 03/11/2022 22:02

Has anyone on here tried tamoxifen - either on its own or combined with stims?

BewilderedBee · 03/11/2022 22:04

@Rubyroo1984 I started with abc and got pregnant and miscarried - posted on here at the time. And then since I have done several cycles with my nhs clinic and has no success. Im back doing a cycle with create - abc have referred me on to them as I am too complex for abc. We are trying stims and tamoxifen this time.

Rubyroo1984 · 08/11/2022 18:34

Hi @BewilderedBee . Sorry to hear about your miscarriage and unsuccessful cycles. It’s a tough journey to say the least.
I was also at ABC for one failed cycle. Like you, I was too complex a case so was referred to create. Unfortunately I’d lost faith with abc/create (before the cycle had failed) so have gone with a different clinic. I’m yet to do a cycle as decided to pgta test my embryos first, but the plan is also to do a mild stims cycle. I’m also going to do the Emma and Alice test. Doctor also said to do a Neupogen was before transfer.
Does the tamoxifen help with the thin lining or is it for something else?

Hi I just wondered how people got on? @Rubyroo1984 @BewilderedBee did you have any luck in the end? x

Rubyroo1984 · 26/06/2024 21:31

Hi @lemons44 no luck here unfortunately but we don’t think it’s due to thin lining. I’ve done a couple of super ovulation cycles and my lining gets to over 7mm. Have you tried super ovulation ?

lemons44 · 08/07/2024 18:19

Hi @Rubyroo1984 so sorry for some reason I didn't see this reply. Fortunately after VERY high doses of eostrogen we managed to reach the magic 7mm so our FET went ahead. My lining does struggle every time though, what is 'super ovulation'?

Also did anybody who was taking vitamin E for their lining stop if after the embryo transfer? Had my transfer today and not sure if I should stop it.

x

Optimistic66 · 09/07/2024 14:04

Hi all,

I wanted to come back an update here because I was reading this thread and scouring for support when I was going through ovulation induction and found I had thin lining.

My first cycle I only got to 5mm, but during my second cycle I searched high and low through these threads and managed to get to 7.6mm and grateful that this cycle worked. So wanted to share what I did incase it helps anyone else:

  1. Castor oil packs on my tummy every day from day 10 until ovulation
  2. Vitamin E
  3. Raspberry red leaf tea every night
  4. Diet mainly consisted of Beef, Spinach and high iron food
  5. Cup of Pomegrante and beetroot juice everyday until ovulation
  6. Brazil Nuts
  7. Baby Aspirin daily from CD10 until day after ovulation
  8. Daily walks for 45mins
  9. Hot water bottle for atleast half hour on my tummy.
  10. Kept my feet warm with socks all the time.

Hope this helps someone else.

BeaCat · 09/07/2024 17:03

@lemons44 i asked my consultant about vitamin E a few weeks ago and I think he said high levels for vitamin E were not good to take while pregnant x
