Hello,

Following on from the full UK lockdown announcement, does anyone know if IVF clinic will remain open?

After a missed miscarriage, followed by a wait to get my period back and then December shutdown, I was really hoping to start In Jan but not sure if this is now
Possible

Last lockdown in April (or whatever month it was we went into the first full lockdown), my clinic finished most patients treatment up to and including egg collection and fertilisation, most ended up as a freeze all I think. But they stopped at that point as most of the staff were redeployed to the hospital.
I think the only treatments they were doing were for fertility preservation of cancer patients and similar. Maybe a few fresh transfers were done but I think they said to me when they opened back up that it was very few.

@PenguNoodle

I too am wondering the same. So many delays from various issues and of course Covid. 2 failed iui and have spoken to clinic who have advised ivf which would've been likely to start feb/March.
I have a horrible feeling they will close due to staff being needed elsewhere in hospital, as pp said.
Such a shit situation to be in anyway without the stresses of wondering if it will all go ahead and how long a potential delay will be!

Yep get frustrating to have to finally be ready and then this. My clinic too was shutdown last time and staff redeployed to the NHS. I'll call my clinic tomorrow and check what the status is and update

Pretty much every stand alone private clinic will stay open - eg Creates website already confirms this. They are businesses in their own right with staff that wouldn't be requisitioned by the NHS and there was huge uproar last time about the suspension of fertility treatment. This includes continuing to treat NHS patients who have had their funding and clinic slot confirmed

NHS clinics though - especially ones attached to a hospital eg Birmingham Women's unfortunately will Most likely suspend all treatment as their staff will be reassigned and requires you to be on hospital grounds

@ivfbeenbusy

I guess that means I should expect mine to be cancelled then, as it is nhs attached to hospital!

willithappen · 05/01/2021 09:53

@Noirberry19 my clinic is NHS and attached to hospital and they have put out guidance this morning that they are continuing to provide medical care in line with the government advice.

PenguNoodle · 05/01/2021 10:26

I've just called my clinic and they have said they are remaining open too and HEFA haven't sent any guidance on closing so looks like business as usual

My nhs clinic (Hammersmith hospital) told me that they are closing until March (only open for people already on medication or urgent) due to staff redeployment but said to call in a few weeks as it might change again!

PenguNoodle · 05/01/2021 14:03

Sorry to hear that orchid, hopefully they will open back up soon

Hi,

I am under the care of a consultant at UCLH, but the IVF and PGS will be done at the CRGH. I am starting my first stimulation in 1 week (will do embryo batching), and i am just finishing my downregulation cycle.

So far so good, i called the CRGH and they said they haven't stopped the treatments. Maybe they will consider priority? I was told not so long ago that due to my age and my low ovarian reserve, i should not be cancelled. But who knows, really....

xx

@willithappen sounds promising! 🤞🏼 thank you.

My clinic called today to book in my treatment plan for Monday. Sick of the TP after every failed cycle, but I was glad because I assume they wouldn't have bothered if they had plans of closing?! Get this out the way and they've said feb/March for treatment so hoping everything goes ahead 🤞🏼
