When did you start progesterone for your FET?

I’m having our second transfer in January. Our first one was fresh and failed.

I’m on long protocol, so that’s down-regulation with suprecur nasal spray (buserelin) for 2 weeks then 2 weeks of oestrogen before the transfer. I’m on CD22 and day 2 of buserelin now.

I’ve just noticed that I will be starting progesterone (cyclogest pessaries 3 times per day) on the morning of the transfer! I’ve seen people start it 5 days before a 5dt when they’ve had down-regulation, so I’m worried that this isn’t enough time for my progesterone levels to rise.

When did you start progesterone for your FET with down-regulation?

Thanks!

I didn't down reg but it was a medicated FET. Progesterone started 3 days before FET (day 3 frozen embryo). I thought the purpose of it was that your lining would be in the same state that it would be at that stage in your natural cycle where you would have been producing progesterone after ovulation

@TTCIVF thanks for your reply! Yes that’s my understanding too. This is the case even more so when you’re down-regulating, as your natural hormone levels are deliberately suppressed.

I totally think it makes sense to be on progesterone for a few days before. I don’t see how only staring that morning would be sufficient. Hmmm. I will maybe check with my doctor to be sure!

Hi I did a medicated FET with downreg and started progesterone 5 days before the transfer (day 5 embryos). They called me to give a date of exactly when to stop buserelin and start progesterone once the fixed the ET date. I’d check with your clinic as this seems a bit late for the luteal phase support, especially with a suppressed cycle like you say!
