Hi everyone

Been on different threads re the ivf refund programme and we have our consultation with care fertility coming up and just trying to get my head around the two options we have

So in 38-39 bracket we have either -

3 cycle 50 % refund £15,400
Or
2 cycle multi cycle - no refund £8,200

Can't get my head around if we should do 2/3?

If we did 3 cycle and 50% refund and they didn't work we would then be paying £7,700 ( with refund ) so a saving of £500 if we went for the 2 cycle but another cycle included ? Is this right?

But then if we fell first time on 3 cycle
Potentially paying £15,400 but will then have baby

Thanks for reading x

I got a bfp first time after choosing a top package. Yes you could say it's wasted money, but until the baby is born I have the security to fall back on in case something terrible happens

I had to have a freeze all due to ohss and am waiting for an FET which is covered by the 3 cycle package on Access. So even if you only have one fresh round but need a couple of frozen transfers it kind of works out. We bought the top package for exactly that reason - we’re completely covered for frozen transfers and have further cycles to fall back on if needed. I felt it took some of the pressure away for this cycle to work first time. Although I’m still hoping it does work obvs! Hope that makes some sort of sense.

Having spent £35k on 5 rounds (weren't eligible for a refund programme) I'd opt for the 3 cycle one. All the stats suggest that 3 cycles gives you the best chance of having a successful pregnancy. We got lucky finally on our final transfer but it could so easily have been another BFN.

strawberrysummer19 · 02/12/2020 14:33

Thanks everyone yes I think the 3 too
Like the clinic said we can apply to see if we get accepted first and if we don't for some reason then we can do the 2

But it makes sense for the 3 cycles

Thank you everyone xx

Ok so just come across something that confused partner and i

Completing our forms and can see our clinic offers a single round for £3,400

But it's £8,200 for 2 multi cycles ?

Please can something explain the difference?!

Probably includes unlimited fet
ivfbeenbusy · 02/12/2020 19:23

Yes - with the package deal good get unlimited FET - you aren't allowed to move on to the next egg collection until you have transferred everything from the one before - so if you did your first egg collection and got 5 blastocysts you'd have 1 fresh transfer and 4 frozen transfers before doing the second egg collection

With the single round cost you'd only get 1 fresh transfer so if you got 5 blastocysts and the fresh transfer didn't work then you'd have to pay 4x £2,000 (approx figure - you'd need to check with the clinic price list) to transfer the remaining ones

Also you need to check with both options whether they include freezing and storage. Most clinics charge for that on top and I'm not sure what included in the package deal?

strawberrysummer19 · 24/12/2020 08:44

So we've had our consultation and I'm not sure if we will qualify for the 3 cycles 50% so if we don't then that will leave the only option of 2 cycle £10,200 but no refund

Still not sure what to go for if we do have a choice as it's just so much money upfront for the 3 cycles £18,600 plus £1500 meds !

So we may have to go with the second option financially

Head hurts 🤨

What costs are on room of the £10,200? If this is just the basic treatment cost no drugs etc then this is pretty expensive for just 2 cycles

£20k on 3 cycles sounds about right to be honest - that's what we budgeted for although went over because we had some PGS testing as well x

strawberrysummer19 · 24/12/2020 09:54

So for 2 cycles it includes unlimited FET, and that's including icsi. Without icsi it's £8,200

Drugs on top £1300-£1500 was the estimate but waiting for the confirmation

I guess you've got to gamble on the unlimited FET - you could get 5 blastocysts per cycle or Could end up with 1? I would have a look at what the clinic charges for an FET?

strawberrysummer19 · 24/12/2020 10:57

Yeah exactly if there's only one then the fet is not a benefit

I'll have to see, I'm just torn between the 2 cycles or 3

It's just so much money to stump up £18k or £10 but obviously the first option there's the 50% refund but it's still forking out initially x
