OHSS- worried

Hi all

We are starting our IVF journey after TTC for second child for 3 years. Its all normal with both me and my husband ( 37y) but I've lost one tube and have lots odlf adhesions from emergency c section so I suspect that is the issue.

Now I only just had initial scan ( we are with ABC clinic in London) and I am already panicking about OHSS. The reason being- in normal cycle I have about 15 follicles which I understand is quite good. In every cycle I feel terrible ovulation pain and follicle growing discomfort from day 5-6 of my cycle. I am just really worried that in my stimulated cycle this will be five times worse and that I will end up with OHSS. Does anyone know how ABC tackles OHSS, any stats available to help me calm down? Thanks!

Hi I was with ABCs sister clinic Create. ABC is known for low dose medication so chance of getting OHSS is pretty small

Word of warning though.......I lost a tube due a ruptured ectopic pregnancy caused by adhesions after a c section for my first pregnancy. I used to have horrendous ovulation pain that only started after the c section. It was so painful I generally had to call in sick to work. I ended up having a second ruptured ectopic. Once both tubes were gone no more ovulation pain so doctors said the two were linked - adhesions and painful ovulation. So I'd say unless you have a very very high AMH level or PCOS the chance of OHSS is unlikely x

At my scan my doc counted 22 follicles. He said I will be on the lowest dose of medication, and if necessary may even skip a day, to ensure my ovaries aren't over stimulated. He also said with the amount of scans they do during this time, that OHSS is now very rare.

My clinic monitored me closely and changed dose accordingly to avoid ohss. Your clinic should do the same
