Any grade cc embryos success stories?

Just trying not to lose hope at this stage! Our initial embryos looked good but only ended up with 2 grade cc and none suitable for freezing. I know there's still a chance of a successful outcome but I can't help feeling it's not that high.
Anyone had any experience with similar grade embryos? Xx

Hi Roo, we had a 3cc frozen. It thawed perfectly but unfortunately ended in a chemical. So i don't really have a positive story but didn't want to read and run. The clinic tell me that once it's transferred it's all about chromosome normality and they can't tell anything like that by their grading. If i had a cc again, i'd still be positive about its chances. Wishing you the very best. Try to stay positive (i know it's easier said than done)

Thank you @Galgal15 yes I am trying to stay positive but my emotions are all over the place! Sorry you had a chemical pregnancy not sure if you are still going through the IVF journey but either way wishing you best of luck and thanks so much for your response xx

My 3bc is asleep on my chest. I was so disappointed when they told me the grading at the transfer but they also said they don’t transfer anything that doesn’t have a chance.

My friend’s son was an even worse graded embryo and he’s a 4 year old now x

Thank you @DobbieFreeElf (love the username!) I was losing hope today and starting to think what's the point and you've both given me some hope so thank you!xx

Sorry to hear that, it's not an easy journey Sad
Good luck with whatever you decide to do next.

Thanks @Galgal15 I know I was hoping for better results but this experience has taught me IVF is such a lottery and despite science there's still so much we can't predict

Hi. I had two day 6 blastocysts which my clinic discarded. One was 6CC and other was 6CB-. They refused to transfer as they said the c represents no ICM (inner cell mass) that would form the baby.

Faithhopelove83 · 18/03/2023 10:26

I appreciate this is an old thread, but I just want to add a message in case it assists anyone researching this topic.
One of our 5 blastocysts was graded 3CC and the embryologist at that time said it wasn't viable and probably wouldn't survive the freeze/thaw process. She recommended discarding the embryo. But life is so precious, we decided to freeze the embryo (clinics have to respect your wishes, even if they don't like it and are worried about their stats). Yesterday, the embryo successfully thawed and was said to be doing "better than expected". It is now safely on board, along with a 3AB 🙂.
There are lots of success stories out there with 3CC / 4CC / 5CC / 6CC embryos. Never give up hope.

@Faithhopelove83 I had two blastocysts last October: one was 6CC and other was 6CB-. They said they use a different grading system and refused to transfer them. They discarded them at CRGH. They said the lowest they transfer is 6B-C because they told me the two components making a healthy baby were not just poor quality but the c represented it was absent.

2021ivfagain · 18/03/2023 13:37

@Faithhopelove83 Your story shows it can work but my clinic flatly refused. I was so upset. I only have 7 day 3 embryos frozen, but that was my best cycle at 40. I already have a son through IVF IMSI but I was 38 then and it was easier. Good luck with your transfer.

2021ivfagain · 18/03/2023 13:38

I only have 7 day 3 embryos left now. I did batching so had 11 before.

Faithhopelove83 · 18/03/2023 14:39

Hi @2021ivfagain and thank you for the well wishes xx

I'm so sorry for the experience you had at your clinic and the upset it caused. Great that you have 7 embryos left! We have just 2 left (it's been a very difficult 6.5 year journey to get to this point, trying for DC#1, and I turn 40 this year).

I'm no expert on grading and can only go on my experience. I was warned that the inner cell mass was not clear and the trophectoderm was sparce and thick, hence a CC (full 3:3 on Care's grading system, but the equivalent of 3CC on the Gardner grading system). I was told I was going against their advice to freeze it. I found reading success stories to be really helpful, but I know that every case is different.

There is so much hope in your remaining embryos and I wish you all the very best conceiving DC#2 xx

2021ivfagain · 18/03/2023 14:55

@Faithhopelove83 Thanks. Trying to stay positive. I have 7 day 3 embryos which equates to 2 or 3 blastocysts. They don’t do day 3 transfers. So realistically we will only get 2 or 3 blastocysts. Two day 3 embryos are 8 cell grade one and one is 8 cell grade 2. These are the significant ones. The others are 6-7 cell and from past experiences with male factor infertility as well we have never had more than 3 blastocysts in one cycle.

2021ivfagain · 18/03/2023 14:58

@Faithhopelove83 I think we are in a similar position as you have had 4 blastocysts with 2 left. When mine are thawed, I will only have 2 or 3 blastocysts total.

Faithhopelove83 · 18/03/2023 15:54

@2021ivfagain Ah, I see, yes similar position. I had 2 fresh cycles last year - the first failed to implant and the second resulted in my third miscarriage. It's such a hard journey isn't it and hard to stay positive. When is your next transfer? I think you're on the EMMA/ERA/ALICE thread, but I'm new and haven't caught up with where everyone is at yet, it's such a busy thread!

2021ivfagain · 18/03/2023 18:45

@Faithhopelove83 Yes. I’m on the Emma, era, Alice thread. I keep getting delays and setbacks. I was going to have a transfer last October but they discarded both blastocysts. Then month after I did Emma, era, Alice and nk cells biopsy. I couldn’t do a transfer in December due to it being too close to their Christmas break, so had to wait until January. January came and my husband was unwell from a bad cold from
end of December, my son got ill, both parents went into hospital and then I got the cold. I had to cancel as it would’ve affected my treatment. Then this month I had a vaginal infection and I felt symptoms so did a test with Invivo but it takes 3 weeks. But also my husband became unwell again when I was on steroids so I had no option but to cancel. But my son has the cold and I’ve just caught it, so my treatment might have to be delayed again.

Faithhopelove83 · 19/03/2023 10:00

Oh my goodness @2021ivfagain , what a run of it you've had! I'm sorry for all the set backs and illnesses. I hope you and DS get well soon. Hope your Invivo test results come back ok and you can do a transfer soon. I look forward to sharing our journeys over on the other thread. May this be the year for both of us! xx

2021ivfagain · 19/03/2023 11:04

@Faithhopelove83 Thanks. I already had results from Invivo 4 days before my transfer which showed I had high levels of atopobium vaginae. It was too late in getting them really. The only drawback is you have to wait 21 working days for the result to come back.
