Coventry implantation clinic

Am on the patient list and have been told I will be contacted this week or next. Just wondered if this is worth doing. Have had three miscarriages, all tests back clear (but no immune testing) and just been told repeatedly it's bad luck and my age (nearly 41). Have been waiting ages (understandably due to Covid) and feel like after my third miscarriage at the end of April (nothing since despite trying) I'm losing motivation really. I know an appointment probably wouldn't be for a while still anyway but just wondered if anyone had any experiences to share good or bad.

I'm sorry for your losses @Needanewnamenow ❤️ I went to the implantation clinic in February after my 3rd loss. I had one biopsy and my second was cancelled due to covid. I had my results and they were normal. As the clinic was closed we had a video consultation with Professor Brosens, he said it was likely that my losses were due to my uterine environment rather than an issue with the babies (we'd never seen a heartbeat). So he prescribed cyclogest to try next time, which I did but I sadly had a 4th loss, my 3rd MMC. I did speak to professor Brosens again and he said that he felt another biopsy wouldn't give a different result (although he said I could book in again, but my cycle has been affected by my last loss due to retained tissue). He said its possible I need steroids next time but due to covid he was unlikely to be able to prescribe them.

The bonus of the Coventry clinic is that you just book for the biopsy when you'll be 7-10dpo and results usually take 4-6 weeks.

We've decided to go privately to look into immune factors now - I'm seeing Dr Shehata at the CRP Clinic in Surrey.

Thank you @VenusStarr am sorry also for your loses, I have seen your name around and hoped you would get there last time. We've decided against anything like immune testing with Dr Shehata, that feels like a bit of a rabbit hole that I am not sure I can go down, but I contacted the implantation clinic several months ago and have just been waiting for them to get going again. I am in the north east so even the trip to coventry is out of the way, Surrey would be unmanageable I think. it might help to talk to somone who might have some idea other than to go away and just keep trying and hoping for the best.

Sorry, period started today, third cycle since HSG in September that I hoped might help things along, so feeling like a bit of a mess.

I know what you mean about Dr S @Needanewnamenow I feel so overwhelmed and anxious that if he can't find anything wrong and where will that leave us, or he will find something but we keep going, spend all our money and it doesn't work. I'm just so used to things going wrong, I'm struggling.

Professor Brosens who runs the implantation clinic is lovely and very approachable and open with his opinions.

I'm sorry for your period arriving ❤️ x

I think with all these tests you have to think about what you would do with the results, and even if I could get down to Surrey what would I do if i had to go down there for continued treatment? A nutritionist I spoke to suggested sperm defragementation for my H, but we've decided against IVF (age) and he has a good lifestyle so what would we do with that info?

I know other women do travel great distances but I'm not sure i could manage it. I think if someone told me at this point to give up, I'd take it. I'm very tired of all the uncertainty. Thank you for sharing with me, I wish you all the very best of luck xx

Yes I agree with you. We decided against dna fragmentation tests too as the only real answer is lifestyle changes, so we didn't feel we'd benefit from that test.

It is a trek to get to Surrey, I'm off there today (typically my car broke down yesterday 🙄) but I luckily have an alternative. It does worry me about what he'll suggest as treatment and what that commitment will be but as we've had no other answers and the nhs just told us to keep going, that didn't feel like an option.
I think if someone says stop, it's never going to happen, I could learn to process that. It's exhausting.
Best wishes xx

I hear you as I am in a similar situation. I had a virtual consultation with Professor Brosens and now waiting for my ovulation. He is very nice and patient. We decided to go for it as we have no success yet since my 3rd miscarriage. I hope to get an answer or rule out the uNK possibility. I also hope to get some medic which might help next time. The most difficult part for me to do this is cannot TTC during this time. I understand it is a very long and frustrating journey but doing this test would make me feel like I am having some progress and keep me going if that make sense.

Hello, I know this thread is old but I wondered how you are getting on? I am currently looking into the implantation clinic after 4 early losses. I hope things have progressed for you both 🙏🏻

Hi @Wishingonastar90 , sorry to hear your loses. I had 3 early losses before I went to the implantation clinic. It was very comforting to see them as they have empathy and very kind. They then identified issue to my miscarriages and gave me a treatment plan. I fell pregnant in the next cycle after seeing them. The treatment worked well and we have a healthy boy in 2021 and now I am 11-week pregnant and so far so good. Good luck. xx

I'm the OP (name change). So I did see Prof Brosens back in Jan 2021. My results came back normal (can't remember the actual wording, but no high NK cells). But he did prescribe progesterone to use from ovulation. Unfortunately it didn't help me.

So, rather radically in May 2021 we decided to pursue treatment with donor eggs via the London Women's Clinic. We had an embryo transfer in June 2020 and DD was born in March 2022.

It's not for everyone but after long periods of not conceiving at all, several miscarriages in a row and then nothing again and my age (then 41) this was our last ditch attempt. I'm utterly delighted with DD who is 17 months now and every day I can't believe she is mine. Good luck to you xxx

congratulations @nevergiveuptrying this is so lovely to hear 🤍 I contacted the implantation clinic yesterday and we decided we are going to go ahead with the consultation next week in the hope they too will find something they can offer treatment for 🙏🏻

Wishingonastar90 · 02/08/2023 08:39

Congratulations @NotMyDayJob ! I am so pleased you have your little girl after a difficult journey 🌈
I also took progesterone for my last pregnancy but that didn’t work for me either, I am contemplating putting myself on low dose aspirin when we try again in a couple of months, dependent on the outcome of the results from the implantation clinic testing, we are not ready to give up yet but after 2 years it is taking its toll on my mental health, hoping I also get my rainbow one day soon 🙏🏻

Anyone still active on the thread 🥹😀 anyone who’s had high nk cells , can I please ask if the doctor will give you steroids to take home or do you go back every month to get more ? Xx thank you
